I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

I'd go with the V1 if buying an air cooler today. Exceptional performance and one of the easiest installs out there (no motherboard removal required).

Ya, the motherboard removal part of it doesn't really bother me, it's the size issue and the weight of the cooler that I worry about. Ooh, I hear the Ultra 120 has a really good reputation. What do you guys think? If not, I'm leaning towards the 9700 or the Big Typhoon VX.

If I go with the Thermalright Ultra 120, I probably won't go with the 'Extreme' version because I heard it has a inferior mounting bracket. Am I right?

Damn it you guys, you got me totally split on the Thermalright Ultra 120, the Zalman CNPS 9700 and the Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX. I can kind of rule out the Big Typhoon, though, because my case doesn't have a vent on the side panel. Please help me!!

EDIT:
OK, after mulling it over, I think I'll go with the 9700. That way I won't have to buy an extra fan and it looks cooler than the Ultra 120. Maybe I'll do a review when I get it....

Cheers!!

I don't think you'll be disappointed. I think an additional review (from a different perspective), and with lot's of pictures is in order ;)

Actually (haha) I'm sort of second guessing myself. I need a cooler that will also cool my chipset (it's passively cooled). The GeminII is probably to big.

You hear that a lot on forums, but in reality, a cooler's weight gets too much concern IMO. I can count on less than one hand how many times I've seen someone post that any of these contenders fell off and tore the motherboard apart. In any event, here's how it breaks down:

Cooler Master Gemini II (No fans)
847g

Thermaltake Big Typhoon (One 120mm fan)
813g

Thermalright Ultra 120 (No fan)
745g

Zalman 9700 (one 110mm fan)
764g

Gigabyte Rocket 3D II (one 92mm fan, one 70mm fan)
640g

Thermaltake V1 (one 120mm fan)
637g

One thing that REALLY surprises me is that the GenimII doesn't have any sort of backplate!!

From some of the pics I have seen of the GeminII, I would seem that I would have to remove the exsaust fan from my case. Can any one who maybe owns the GeminII clarify about the size and the fit?

Thanks

Also, where would the two 120mm get power? From the case fan headers on the mobo?

Sorry I'm asking to many questions. Just want to know about the product I'm buying.

For overclocking I'd really recommend either the V1 or Big Typhoon

So, how's this:

Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER GeminII RR-CCH-ANU2-GP CPU+ Board Cooler - Retail
Newegg.com - Thermaltake A1927 120mm Red LED Case Fan - Retail

I like to color on the fans. And there Tt.

Yeah, but what about my chipset? I'm trying not to egnore you guys, but I REALLY like the GeminII for some reason. The V1 I don't mind, but I remember when I saw the pic of it interfering with that fan in the P182. Also the GeminII beat out the Typhoon in the GeminII review.

Well, then there you go....all settled. Keep in mind that the fans are attached to rails, and can be slid back and forth quite a bit to fit a number of situations.

As a side note, please try to put everything in one post......you're developing a bad habit of running on 2-3 posts at a time, and it makes things hard to follow for people.
