That has to be too noisy. My computer is in my room so I wouldn't be able to sleep. Right now i'd like to get rid of my VGA card and my 80mm in the front. :P
Creating a good air flow is the trick. In my current setup, there's 2 main air flows. The 80mm pushes air toward my X1900 which throws it outside my case (cooling a bit my WD2500KS at the same time). Then there's the side panel hole air that get sucked by the CPU cooler, down on the board, and out by the 120mm tricool. The PSU doesn't really help anything, it's dead silent though.
I'm in the process of searching for a good case, something that will fit a 120mm in the front. I'm looking at the CoolerMaster CM Stacker, an interesting case though somewhat expensive.

Edit: The duct was made in 5 seconds. I was just looking at my computer and saw both fans thru the hole in the side panel. I thought "Hey it must be sucking some of it's air this way" so I cut a cardboard piece and folded it. Stuck it right there then closed the case back. :P

As long as it gets the job done I'm all for it... I got the koolance case with a good discount when I needed both a new case and was considering going water. No matter what people say, this thing looks fine to me and it cools sufficient for it needs. Running 450x7 1.35v dual f@h stable temp's not above 45c :)

It has two 80mm intake right by the hdd trays and two near cpu but I'd rather have single 120mm one's. The two 120's from the wc setup are nice though, idk what they are got koolance stickers on em which I won't remove but they move allot off air through my rad on the highest setting and more then adequatly noticing my temps on lower settings which aren't loud at all. I got a zalman mc1 or something to lazy to look it up for fancontrol so I basicly got freedom to do what I want with my system fans :) This rig atm is in my living room lol, so it's staying on low rpm most off the time which is fine. Only reason why I want some airflow over the board is the vregs which are probably a bit hot even during my 24/7 settings but other then that all my hw is sufficiently cooled. Think that if I let the window off I could turn off all intake and outtake fans and still run safely because off the airflow off the wc fans pulling air up through the top off the case but I'd rather not try and find out later it wasn't sufficient ;)

CM Stacker is a great case for aircooling, has lots off space. It will offer enough space to move to water if you want to in the future, think you will like it if you get it :)

Bye bye

Heh, the case I have currently (SLK1650B) is damn small thus I don't have alot of room to play with. I was going to mod the bottom of the front to fit a 120mm but a good part of the air flow would end up being "lost" in the bottom HDD. I'm still thinking about it though, it would be a nice little project.

On the other hand, I want a Core 2 Duo rig. I can't wait for K8L sigh. :P

Lol now what to you want, c2d or k8l :p

Personally I would get what's available ;)

I wouldn't put that much effort into modding that intake, if you increase the intake you better increase the outtake to. Think otherwise you might get flow collision resulting in some parts off your case having dead air pockets. That is afaik, never really got to check with an laser thermomether but I'm quite sure it would...

Depends on layout ect to, but in general I though the rule off thumbs was having the same no off outake cfm as you got coming in?

Bye bye

Yep. I can easily tune my 120mm fan for more outtake. ;D
Besides, I talk alot but I won't be getting a C2D. The difference isn't noticable enough, at least not worth a good board, CPU and performance memory.
