There are some other nice coolers I would recommend, but these are the first ones that come to mind. Make sure you check out our cooler reviews on the front page, many of the ones mentioned have been reviewed here
I do like that Tower, but I have concerns about it's size where her case is concerned. If I were putting it in my case, I wouldn't be because I have a few more mm's to work with. I think it would be a really tight fit, and I might have to remove the side mounted fan altogether. She could really do with another, better case, but she likes her case a lot so I probably have no choice but to leave it as is. I have told her about HS's that work with no fans at all, and she seems to like that idea, but I just need to get something ASAP - even she is complaining about the fan noise. I have used Zalmans in the past, and even had CNPS7000B-cuLED on her s478 P4. I still have that one, but unfortunately, I have no way of attaching it to her 775.

I could actually go down the street right now and get a CNPS9500 or Big Typhoon from CompUSA, but I'm still going to consider some other ones after I look over the reviews. I should've done that in the first place....

If it's not fixed, then don't broke it!

I'm going to say get the Arctic Freezer 7 pro. It cools a bit better than stock but your going to see a huge different in the amount of noise.

The performance of the cooler isn't going to matter as much because it won't be overclocked and will still be in the safe zone.

I will be using the Scythe Ninja on my E6400 at the beginning of this next week fanless to start with, that thing is 150mm which is still decent fit for most cases and sits high enough off the board that clearance shouldn't be an issue.

Agree with the mentions above on the Zalman.
Even on high the noise is minimal, and on a lower
setting it's very quiet.

Never used the other ones, so will withold comments :)

For about half the price of those mentioned, you can get a pretty good cooler, and arguably the quietest of the lot, Stinger can vouch for this as I gave him the one we reviewed.
Scythe MINE 3 Heatpipe CPU Cooler

INTEL QX9650 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 8GB PC2-8500 // BFG GTX260 MaxCore // DD Torture Rack // Seagate 750GB HDD // OCZ Vendetta // PC Power & Cooling 620W PSU

Well, I've come up with what I think is a pretty cost effective (not to mention time saving) solution to this problem.

I happened to keep the CNPS7000BcuLED that I was using on her s478 P4, so I just bought a ZMCSI clip support so I can install it on her board. She was worried about me spending lots of $$ on a new HSF, and so I thought of this when I was looking over some stuff at Newegg. I didn't think I would be using it again. For this HSF, they list the noise level at 18-27.5dBA +/-10%, so I hope the fan is quieter than the stock fan without a controller, because I don't have my Fanmate2 anymore. Otherwise, I might have to get something like that.

Check this out...I'm at CompUSA to get the clip, and I asked the "I'm-The-All-Knowing" tech guy if they have fan controllers. He looks at me like I'm from another planet, and I said, "You know, like a Fanmate or something like that? You guys used to have those a long time ago." He goes, "Do you mean a potentiometer?" .... I'm like, "Yeah..." So he goes and looks by all the fans and stuff (where I've already been, but thought I'd ask anyway), and goes, "Uh...no...I don't think so..." "Ok, thanks..." I paid for the clip and left. What an idiot!

That's what I'm saying...And here I thought walking into CompUSA and asking for a "controller" or "fan controller" (whatever) wouldn't be a big deal. I assumed he'd know what I was talking about. I didn't think I'd need to go in there and ask for it by it's technical name. Jeez...

some brats use that because they learned it in a classroom but have no real world experience (such as that clown)
