| Photogenic | Hey Guys, A llloooonnngggg time ago, I got my tube of ICD7. I've used it and love it! Tested against MX-2. Using a custom watercooled loop: D-Tek FuZion V2 CPU block Laing D5 Pump (speed setting 5) MCR320 Rad Swiftech Res System Spec's: QX6700 @ Stock (for test) ASUS Striker Extreme Corsair Dominator 2GB 800 CAS 4 Seagate 500GB 7200.11 Corsair 650w PSU Ambient temp= 24C MX-2 Idle: 34C Load: 49C ICD7 Idle: 32C Load: 47C Pretty good overall, 2C difference Idle and 3C in Load. Kudos to ICD7 company for a great product and for sending me a free tube!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| I am trying to link up the thermal data with the pressure results over at xtremesystems when I get it organized on the one forum I will post it here- They are having a problem over there with the PM and other stuff till they get it straightened out we will have to wait Last edited by IC Diamond 7; June 3rd, 2008 at 20:20. |

| I thought I would throw this one out while we are waiting for xtremsystems to get fixed I have been running some other accelerated tests with some glass slides, we are still roughing out the procedure so take it for what it is, attached Pic of test result was run for 20 hours at 150 C The center picture ICD is IC Diamond. The others are commonly used overclocker performance pastes. Not a drop dead test but it does highlight the stability of ICD7. The picture is back lighted so the void formation is clearly visible as noted in another test we ran ICD7 for a continuous 1000 hrs @125 C with no change in thermal performance. I got the Idea from Intel from this /////For example, a TIM in a notebook system might experience temperatures in the 50-90 oC range over its life of three or more years. Under accelerated testing, the thermal stress is enhanced and the TIM is tested in the 125 to 150 oC range for shorter durations. The Mobile TIM Tester is put in a bake chamber and heated at a temperature of 125 oC or 150 oC for about 2000 hours. The TIM performance is measured at every interval as needed (e.g., 100 hours, 500 hours).///// The refinement on the test I am working on I use IHS sized copper squares lapped to an 800 grit and I then clamp them between two 2X10 glass slides with 10 binder clips. From the raw pressure film it looks to be about 50 psi. I am running 2 main series of tests here, a thermal cycling test and long term bake out tests through a series of temps. @ 100C a couple of the compounds start to break down after only a couple hours. @ 125C all show some kind of failure with the exception of ICD7 under 20 hours. as noted in another test we ran ICD7 for a continuous 1000 hrs @125 C with no change in thermal performance. It's pretty time consuming to get right but other interesting info is coming out of this also related to application, surface finishes, flatness etc. when I finish the series I will post it. |

| oh noes | I should really take apart my laptop and put some ic7d on here...even though I'm going to be turning it back into the school in ~ 6 or 7 months. Mostly because it has hit 125c (stupid fan). I'll get you that result once I find it too. ![]() e8500@4ghz|Asus P5k-e WiFi| 4gb OCZ ReaperX|2x 3870's|1.3tb storage space|MSI tv tuner. |

| Partial pressure film result vs reported temps would Like to get the sample up to 20 to get the confidence level up, I still have 4 or 5 I have not been able to link to the thermals and another 6 out for analysis - On an initial impression force over 45 psi seems to be the dominant factor for a positive result, and as pressure is related to contact, those that have some marginal contact (non flat) are compensated for by increasing the overall pressure. I have not had a chance to look at all the data closely yet but a cursory look at sample 19A pressure film result shows only contact on two edges which would point to a contact issue Still need more data but that's the way it looks to be trending. |

| oh noes | I have a feeling that 19a was from my cpu. If so, well, it's not the heatsinks fault, lol. A stock intel hsf produced almost the same pattern, where all the force was on the each, just all circular like. I have the test somewhere at home, I might be able to get a pic of it later. ![]() e8500@4ghz|Asus P5k-e WiFi| 4gb OCZ ReaperX|2x 3870's|1.3tb storage space|MSI tv tuner. |
