| oh noes | Hey, do you just want one sample from my cpu and one from my gpu, or do you need 2 from each? EDIT: Well, I just ran the test on my new 7600gt, my e6300 using the scythe cooler of mine, and the e6300 with the stock intel cooler, and, well... my ihs sucks. Pretty much no contact in the center of the heatsink according to the magic film, with both the scythe heatsink and the intel heatsink. I may have to lap this little guy, whenever I get around to water cooling him (which may be a bit, since my fuel pump in my car likely died... but yeah..... Also, with the 7600gt, it seems to be running about a degree colder on idle, but a degree hotter under load, so I'm gonna let it settle in for a bit before saying anything definite. (it looks like the card's hsf had been removed before, so I think it was running as5 before, or something similar.) ![]() e8500@4ghz|Asus P5k-e WiFi| 4gb OCZ ReaperX|2x 3870's|1.3tb storage space|MSI tv tuner. | oh noes | No.... the film was only used when the card was off and out of the case, lol. I'll be looking at the temps again, since it had a chance to settle in over night and whatnot. ![]() e8500@4ghz|Asus P5k-e WiFi| 4gb OCZ ReaperX|2x 3870's|1.3tb storage space|MSI tv tuner. |

| We will have to see how the digital mapping comes out on that one, always hard to tell from a picture I think it is something like the link supplied below you probably have 90lbs on the edges and a good contact on center on the first but the average psi my be onli 40. Bottom that pressure is probably more evenly distributed and may be 40 psi average across the IHS also. XtremeSystems Forums - View Single Post - Innovation Cooling's Diamond 7 TIM test results |

The problem as I see it and as you pointed out is what happens on each side of the equation, A gross feature could be .002 or.20 or some combination of features that just happen to line up that way? This impression thing has me thinking of looking into crime scene forensics should be able to get both. A dial indicator and a surface plate would give me that, but I do not think everybody wants to send me their CPU and sinks. Playdough, metal foil, or maybe a liquid plastic or rubber that hardens on mount that you could just peel off? That way you would pick up both the weak and strong points on each side together on mount with whatever compression/flex the IHS has. Last edited by IC Diamond 7; April 29th, 2008 at 11:13. | |
