I also had a thought on a poorman's or DIY contact test. coat the IHS with graphite(soft pencil ?) put a piece of paper, maybe tissue paper 1.5X 1.5 in. betwen the IHS and sink and clamp. Should show where the CPU is making contact and where it is not. Kind of like taking a rubbing off an old tombstone | |

| Pressurefilm Instructions Key points The test needs to come from a system that has been thermally tested with ICD7 I need to be able to relate the pressure test to a thermal result. Ideally I would like tests from an equal number of +/- thermal results Test is run cold - Cpu should be room temp Take one donor and print and place the smooth sides to sink and IHS with the "frosted sides" facing each other, place on cpu and mount sink. Wait 10 min disassemble and place print in the sample envelope provided.- Do not seal! I want to scan each one before I send them out for processing. Note approximate room temp Note heat sink and cpu on sample envelope. also note the number of your posted forum thermal result . Place samples in return envelope provided and return. I only need a max of 2 per if you only want to do one thats fine. Extras are for any misfires or your own use if you want to check contact on you own Thanks for your time and efforts Andrew Last edited by IC Diamond 7; April 23rd, 2008 at 20:01. |

| oh noes | Hmm, I'm gonna have to retest when I get my thermal compound, since the computer I tested before is, well... in pieces, lol. Well, actulaly, I guess I will be able to test one with my scythe cooler, since I did the temp test already, and I can just pop it in and go... and then get another test with the stock intel cooler. See how it all looks and stuff. ![]() e8500@4ghz|Asus P5k-e WiFi| 4gb OCZ ReaperX|2x 3870's|1.3tb storage space|MSI tv tuner. |

| Silence..Or I kill you! | Quote: Take one donor and print and place the smooth sides to sink and IHS with the "frosted sides" facing each other, place on cpu and mount sink. Is this a two piece test? Saying that each piece, say 1 and 2 have a smooth side and a frosted side, and the two frosted sides need to face one another, while the "smooth sides are opposite, one going toward the heat sink, the other going toward the CPU? Thanks a ton Andrew!!! |

| I tried to post the reference and color charts so you guys could do your own pressure analysis but was stymied on resizing them to conform to forum req. so I will post a link to OCF for the pics. ICD7 Oringinal testers need a sub-test - Page 2 - Overclockers Forums Last edited by IC Diamond 7; April 24th, 2008 at 16:45. |
