| For the pressure film testers- I sent out the stuff today. Got everybody from all forums except 2 as I was a little overzealous on my own testing I ran short and had to order more, so some are getting 5 and some are getting 4 test strips. 2 or 1 can be sent back for digital analysis and the balance you can use on your own account, troubleshooting, comparison etc. I will email you guys with generalized instructions in the next day or two. I included a couple extra tubes to compensate for the remounts. I know it sounds stupid but this was the most complicated mailing I have ever done. You each get six envelopes. 2 donor/print, 2 sample , 1 return, 1 to hold it all... |

| socket 939 junkie | im a little confused here, so hopefully this clears up the fog. you want us to place the test stips without any TIM to get an idea of the pressure? do we need new temperature readings to go with this? also, are we supposed to put TIM on, then the testing strip, then the HSF and get temps? or dont worry about getting temps, just get the pressure readings? |

| I'll send more detailed instructions, but the test is done "dry" with the system cold to just get pressure/contact info then send (self addressed envelope) the test strips back for digital mapping/analysis. I have not completely thought through thermal test data yet. I assume most will test on the same system they had in the original test so I can correlate performance/pressure either there or on a new test... |

| I'm Diggin it! | Damn. I missed this whole thing. I wouldn't of minded being a guinea pig with the test strips. | This is 1 of a number of charts we will be throwing up on our website in the next couple of days. I thought you would be interested as you guys are included. These are the average results of 5 forum give away/beta tests with 112 users tests reported. Some of the more exaggerated improvements over the average might be attributed to a poor initial mount although at least anecdotally as I have not pulled the numbers yet as I want a little larger sample seem to be caused by the pump or bake out of the previously installed compound. On the other side of the average line the small , zero or negative results at least as far as I can suggest might be attributed to more competitive compounds, misfired mounts, misread temps or variations in hardware, software Etc. As most of you guys are pretty rigorous about your testing I am taking the Ockham's razor approach, lex parsimoniae. 9 out of ten times when I have a problem with temps it is usually a contact/pressure problem. I'll rework the sink mount and get a 5 degree drop, But on a more subtle basis if I fine tune it I can get a few more degrees out of it under perfect conditions. The more subtle aspects to getting that last mile in ideal temps is awkward at best and subject to nebulous debates but this is the applied effort you people have been driving for and I am much appreciating it. The contact/pressure testing will give us some good data whether my guess proves right or wrong the info will I think be useful to users across the board whatever compound they use. |

![]() ![]() Kind of brings a whole new meaning to "writers cramp"![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() On a serious note though, I not only have 3 coolers that I can test this on, but also an AMD AM2 motherboard as well as a LGA 775 mother board. Not that the motherboard will really have any affect on the pressure, but possibly do to the difference in mounting methods, it could be possible.

I will post raw data as well as the full boat color digital mapped ones so you will be able to compare any other Raw tests you do to a library and you can do your own analysis
