Can't wait ![]() But seriously, take it easy and get some rest. I broke my wrist about 5 years ago and it took me a while to recover, but if you take things slow, it'll heal faster. ![]()

| Functional Alcoholic | When you guys get your compound please follow the instructions. They are diffrent from AS5 and other compounds. Quote:

| Colonel Calamity | a PEA? that is quite a large amount... AS5 needs about the size of a grain of rice... also for those of us that may test it on a Socket A, how can we get a pea size dab when the core itself is not much larger than that... another thing... some dual cores like the PentiumDs have 2 cores under a single IHS... some 65nm quad cores have 2 dual cores under the IHS.. and in these cases simply spreading from center is not going to be optimum. Guess when a lot of us receive this stuff we will hear all different testing methods to see what works best in the real world. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | oh noes | Personally, I think I'm going to try putting two smaller drops on the heatsink, in line with the cores, still pretty close to the center, but not right in the center. I guess we'll have to see what works best when people start trying it out (although spreading out before hand sounds like a bad idea, so far...) ![]() e8500@4ghz|Asus P5k-e WiFi| 4gb OCZ ReaperX|2x 3870's|1.3tb storage space|MSI tv tuner. |

We recommend a pea sized amount on center to increase the likelihood of optimum results for the average user. That amount with the proper pressure will spread to cover the entire area of contact between the sink and IHS 100% of the time. There is a diminishing return of heat transfer the farther away that you get from the core in the IHS admittedly , but as all amounts are subject to a kind of artistic guesswork i.e a grain of rice is marginal with ICD7, it is highly bulk loaded for long term stability, very different than the "wet" style lightly loaded greases which are subject to Bake out or pump out in the short term. I would use our method out of the gate, then when you know what the best possible result that be gotten you have a basis to fine tune with your own application methods. The magic Cross is the best application method I have seen to date but tends to use more paste in the long run. I would also advise watching your mounting pressure, we have a chart on our site showing performance vs pressure. For example from 60psi to 45 psi thermal resistance doubles from an increase in Bond Line Thickness (BLT). Tower designs sometimes have a tendency in the horizontal mount to have an increased gap at the top end of the IHS due to the weight. You may have to use shims or heavier springs to more securely mount the sink. A squirt and squish with maybe a twist to spread it around is just about as easy as it gets and from our experience effective and foolproof.
