| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | Zalman makes some very good coolers. Take a look at these Thermalright True Zalman CNPS 9700 ZeroTHERM Nirvana INTEL QX9650 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 8GB PC2-8500 // BFG GTX260 MaxCore // DD Torture Rack // Seagate 750GB HDD // OCZ Vendetta // PC Power & Cooling 620W PSU |

| Leaning toward the Zerotherm. I like that it isn't just passive cooling (vs TRUE) and after discount and (hated) MIR at Newegg it's half the price of the Zalman. Probably order early in the week and put on next weekend. Boo Hoo - no more SMP folding until then! ![]() |

| T-Rex | I recommend choosing a fan if you select the TRUE. Nobody really runs that thing fanless, with a fan is where it really shines. |

| Linuxlubber | This is the cooler I'm using... Newegg.com - ZEROtherm BTF90 92mm Silent UFO CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks But they came out with a revision that seems even better. Newegg.com - ZEROtherm BTF90 with manual fan controller (BTF92) 92mm 2 ball UFO bearing CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks |

| Modder-ator | Yeah, 70 degrees C is too high for a desktop processor. The idle temps after you stopped F@H are very reasonable, but the load temps are too high. I would look into getting a better airflow in your case (more/better/faster case fans) or a better processor heatsink (like the ones that have been linked to already). |

| Got the Zalman 9700 Quiet Cooler. Installed and all looks much better, even running FAH GPU and SMP. temps.jpg Can't believe there was such a difference - nearly 40C! Some of it is due to poor thermal paste applications - If I can figure out how to post some pics I'll do so. ![]() |

| I recommend the TRUE with a good fan. Definitely do not run fanless. The TRUE with a good fan will cool even a OCed quad. A good fan might cost upwards of 10 bucks. I use either Panaflo or Delta fans for things like this... | Took some pics while installing new cooler fan. Let me know what you think. This is what the stock cooler looked like when I pulled it off. thermal 1.jpg Matching it was the CPU thermal 2.jpg Clearly the paste was not applied very well initially. ![]() Last edited by PTRMAN; August 28th, 2008 at 20:13. |

| Wasn't going to make the same mistake twice. Zalman instructions indicated it was OK to cover the CPU and fan base, so I did. thermal 3.jpg thermal 4.jpg ![]() |
