Ok well I bought myself 4 Arctic 12 fans, Arctic silver compound, and the Cooler Master Geminii. This cpu cooler looks big and SWEEET! Well i haven't started putting anything together yet because i haven't even tried opening up the packages, but today around the afternoon I will.

I really wanna replace all my fans with Arctic 12's because I think it's better than the antec ones I have plus it's quieter. Another thing I'm scared to remove my mobo and do everything all over again just to put the cpu cooler on :( meh... But it has to be done.

I'm debating where or not I should just bring this to a store to assemble or just do it myself. Ahh what the hell I'll do it myself. I'm just scared not knowing where all the correct cables should be once I reconnect all the plugs.

One more thing when I bought my power supply it was all tied up nicely but my dumbass decided to take off the neatly tied cables and let everthing loose. That's why in my previous thread, where I took pics of the inside of my pc, my cpu cooler was facing the wrong way, and everyone said my cables uptop were a disaster. I don't know how to make them neat again and I want better air flow regardless. I'm even thinking about changing my case completely. The only reason why I bought the thermaltake shark was because the operative at EVGA recommended it. I later learned about the Cooler Master 830. But oh well...

Are fan grills beneficial for performance or do they only help the look? And Also what is a good temperature monitor that i can purchase???

If you have a camera, take pictures of your system, and use them as a guide for assembly/disassembly........refer to them if you have questions or get lost.....you can also use tape and paper to keep track of things, as well as use the user manual that came with your hardware.

As far as temperature monitors, use the free ones TAT, Core Temp, or Speed Fan

I was actually talking about the temp monitors where i can put in my drive bay and read the temps cuz i think it looks nice and i can monitor temps without alt+tabbing during games to see if it's gone too hot.

That's a good idea though about the tape... I like that. My cameras busted so I cancel that out. I'm left with old fashioned tape

Oh and about the fan grills... Are they helpful at all?

eh, skip the temp sensor....they really are not very accurate....and trying to fit one between a IHS and heatsink is just asking for trouble....

As to the fan grill, if you are talking about an intake or exhaust fan on your case, i'd recommend putting a grill on them, if only to protect your fingers or something hitting the fan. If you are talking about an internal fan (inside the case) don't wwaste your money.

Well thank you for warning me :) I just got really interested in all this stuff because I watched case modding videos about an hour ago and it got me very interested in how I want my case to look. Lights, Static, and Sound Responsive Lights. The other day my girlfriend saw the inside of my case and its blue(rear fan), green(cpu fan), and purple(pci fan) and she said, "your computer looks cool" and I was surprised hearing that from her because she hates me ever talking about it lol :P

So I guess I won't be buying any new temp monitors or grills because they're all inside.

Another interest of mine is that I want to mod my case a little by cutting a 120mm hole on the top and maybe screw in a 250mm fan into the honeycomb side of my case. Whatcha think? Problem is... How?

Lets get you up and running, and a little more comfortable with working on your system before we delve into modding.

Cutting holes in your enclosure may look easy, or fun....but you could really screw things up if you don't know what you are doing. My suggestion is to have a system up and running....then buy a second, maybe cheap case that you can mod. cut holes in it, paint it, etc....have fun. Make sure you have no sharp edges, no metal flakes, no places where electrical components can short out, and that you don't compromise your case's integrity.

What instrument should I use to cut these holes??? I understand it because I'm actually good with my hands. And it's not hard drawing precise measurements and making sure it comes out clean on both sides of the case. Once i cut the hole, I'll file it down to make the edges smooth THEN I'll put on this rubber tape evenly around the hole. It looks easy enough, and I'll do it. I just can't afford a $200 gizmo to do that right now

Dremel, or an equivalent. I have a blackndecker version and it was about 20.00 cheaper.
Cut away, Capper let him make his own mistakes, thats the best way to learn for some people.

Man, keep talking that smack. I know how to build things, break things, and fix things. It seems like you guys think I'm retarded. I'm just trying to learn PCs to the fullest. It's new to me, and I love gaming. I've gamed MOSTLY on PCs ever since I was in the 8th grade. I just never had the money to buy a new pc and 2 months ago is when I finally did. I'm not stupid and I learn quick. And if you "1bx" think low of me then I'll show you what I can do. No one ever questions me on what I'm capable of.

Tone it down a notch Pbirmingham, you're getting good, free advice all around from members volunteering their time and knowledge, and a little gratitude wouldn't be uncalled for. Nobody here thinks you're inept, rather your best interests are being looked out for, as well as anyone else reading that may find themselves in a similar situation.

That's exactly why it would be a good idea to practice on an inexpensive test case before diving in head first on your main system. Otherwise, this could easily turn into one of those 'told-you-so' situations, much like the Ohio State vs Florida thread...
