| I have one Q6600 with the stock HSF unit running at 2.83 GHz. Been chugging along 24/7 for about a month now with now ill effects running f@h. Yes, it's running hot, but within spec, and more importantly, stable. Am I recommending you to oc under the stock cooler? Nope, no, definitely not. Just making an example that the stock cooler is better than most give it credit. I also have a couple 120's drawing the expended heat away and out of the case, and it is in a cool basement. For serious cooling, I can't say enough good things about the Zalman 9700. Have 4 of them keeping 3 quads and a 6400 (all oc'd at 2.8 or higher) nicely cool and stable. | Hopefully this will be helpful to you; we have posted an article comparing many of the top CPU coolers recommended in our Best CPU Cooler Performance - Q1 2008 roundup. All of the coolers used the same fan so that CPU cooler performance was isolated, and all of the products were stock (not lapped or modified). You may find different performance results by using a different fan or modifying the product. | ||||||||||||||

| I have been using a Big Typ VX for a few days now and have been getting temps of between 33-36 (depending on power setting) while surfing the net and watching films etc and it goes up to 42-23 while playing Oblivion. It not o/c'd though but still gives me lots of leeway. EDIT: After reading the Best CPU Cooler Performance - Q1 2008 (cheers Das) I will defiantly be looking out for the OCZ Vendetta 2 in the future. Its bound to have a hefty price tag though, lookig at the Vendetta 1.
