| Colonel Calamity | I myself would not have a larger cooler without the Big Typhoon style backplate and screws. The Intel type push pins just pull out way too easily on the heavier coolers. Unless you go in there to clean up every 30 days, you will see your temperatures creep up slowly until around 60-90 days it is sitting at 50ºC idle and you wonder whats going on... In my opinion, the push pin is fine for small light setups like the stock Intel cooler but not for anything heavier than that. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| Personally, I would have preferred a backplate and metal screw, but I couldnt find 1 that would fit anywhere. I dont think it would be possible to fit anyway. I will try and support it somehow to decrease strain on the push-pins. They just dont seem up to the job of supporting the substantial Big Typ VX. With that in mind, I hunted down a more suitable alternative. After an hour of so using Google, my efforts yielded no results. All I found was, people on forums experiencing similar doubts as to the holding power of push-pins. Then I realised, the original Big Typhoon included a superior method to fix the cooler to the motherboard, that included a back-plate and bolts (Not springs and screws). My next problem was to find somewhere that stocked the parts I needed. After another 30mins I found a US based outlet fronted by Thermaltake that usually stocked the parts. They are out of stock ATM but I didt mind waiting, at least I knew of a place that sold the bracket. No where else seemed to stock this part. Just as I thought my search was over, I realised a message stating, for US and Canada only. Arrrhhhhhh. ![]() The hunt continued. After a little more searching, I found the Australian and New Zealand equivalent to the US TT shop. I thought I would have a similar problem to the 1 with the US TT shop. In my desperate state of mind, I went ahead and entered. I could find no such information excluding sales to the UK. I went ahead and went to checkout and to my surprise, I was able to select my country when filling out my address and should have the parts soon I dont know why TT have an official shop in every region of the world (well almost) except Europe. Also, I have heard that their customer service is great in the US but almost non-excistant in Europe. What is up with that? "Damn, I can go on!" | I'm Evil | TT has a weird setup....all of their branches are independent of each other....the US branch actually buys their stuff from the Asian branch. I've heard they are changing that to make things easier on them. | Really, sounds overly complex. Maybe they can establish a European branch while their at it. | I'm Evil | Well, I think they are in the process of consolidating their operations. INTEL QX9650 ASUS P5E3 Premium 4GB DDR3-1600 Sapphire HD 3870X2 Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C) 5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5 BFG ES 800W PSU |

| It makes sense. I am not sure why a company would be run as separate branches in the 1st place. Maybe it was something to do with share prices and covering up losses if a particular branch under performed.
