My case is as good as silent =\; maybe I'm just used to it. Leads me to wonder how much quieter it could become if I didn't run everything the way that I do.

You're probably used to it haha, because the dual slot cooler used on the 8800GTX isn't the quietest around though not the loudest either. =P

Though big, heavy, and kind of expensive, the Zalman VF-1000 should keep your card nice and cool. Here's my review of it on an 8600GTS.

and not to mention havin the fan run at 100% may not be any real benefit since you'll be circulating the hot air in the case anyway.

(thanks blake!)

Yep, I wanted to see the GPU core of my new card and came across the problem. Heres the old thread on it: G80 too hot for ya?
I'm not exaggerating, there was so much thermal goop that it got everywhere..fingers, shirt, table, even the floor and table after being scrapped off razor blade (too much to simply wipe off). They put so much on there it was acting as an insulator.
As mentioned, the Zalman VF-1000 is the first that comes to mind with an after market, the Thermalright HR-03 Plus is another I know off the top of my head. Basically after replacing the goop on my 8800 the temps never get over 55C under load, so I'm pretty happy with that.
