Yes, thats the Type-R. I had the same PSU for some time, and it's more then capable of running your system with a 8800GT. Don't sweat it, the Type-R is a great mid-range PSU.

Hehe, so In a fit of nerdyness and after beating Crysis, I just HAD to get this
Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N841-A3 GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

My figuring is its 50$ rebate (Crysis for free) + $20 MIR + $10 instant makes it cost just around $270, which is what I was going to pay for a new one anyway.
And I looked at some other threads and the GTS G92 looks like t3h sex.

However, in a fit of noobiness I realized it is PCI-e 2.0. But some googling found (not solid-ly) that PCI 2.0 fits in a PCI x16 slot?

Could someone confirm this please?

:)

Now I can't buy anything online until April.

Yes the PCI-e 2.0 card is the same fitting as the gfx cards before it. I replaced my 7600GT with a 3870, seems to work perfectly fine.

I would not hesitate one second. I signed up for lifetime warranty and all that in a matter of seconds on eVGA website. Paid $278.00 canadian when I ordered it (december 7th)
I think the decision has just become clear. Even if you don't consider that insane overclock, the warranty and the fact that he DID overclock AND change the cooler is more than enough.

eVGA has always been one of my favourites anyway. They always seem to have the best price-for-performance (except a select few XFX cards I've seen). But they definitely have the best warranty of any manufacturer.

Yea, its really that warranty that did it for me. That and the fact that this card (The GTS G92) is ridiculously good.

I think you posted in my other thread, but im running the 8800GTS with absolutely no problems at all (after i reformated and corrected that registry/driver issue i had). I was never a fan of the 8800GT mainly due to its cooling (and i found it didn't really outperform my old GTS G80 320meg significantly enough to upgrade to it). Broke down and bought the G92 one since I gave my G80 to my little bro. Positive bout this since it is a eVGA, print out a copy of your newegg receipt, you can step it up within 90 days. Im waitin to see how the 9000 series is, if its not too much i may step up to it. If not i may just go with the GTX to compliment my new 24 inch LCD =D

(thanks blake!)

I'm selling it to 1 of 2 people on my floor. Hopefully one of em has a pci-e x16 slot and not AGP.

EVGA is a great company. I've greatly enjoyed using their products and experiencing their high level of customer service.

Having said that, just make sure you register the product within 30 days. Otherwise, that phat warranty gets pretty slim.
