If the card has memory pads TIM pads do not use IC7D on the BGA chips.

But yeah most cards cores look like a 13yr old squirted caulk on the core with a caulk gun.

I also put ICD7 on my EVGA 8800GT 512MB card.
It dropped temps about 10c on idle and 9c load, there was waayyyy to much TIM on there before. I'm using the stock cooler BTW.

My 7900GS took a drop of about 11C on idle and 13C on load when I changed the paste to AS5. To answer your question, it's more than smart to change paste on a video card - I recommend it.

i noticed a 3c drop in temps when i put IC7 on my HD3870's. stock cooler. however i have since started to run them at 75% fanspeed using riva tuner.
