| Colonel Calamity | you are better off spending the £185 if the lower wattage Power supply is a quality unit... because if that 1200W is a cheap unit, you may as well toss some socks fresh from the dryer and covered in static onto your new system. A quality 700W unit will seriously outperform and outlive a cheap 1000+W unit. I have had cheap PSUs die on me throughout the years. Luckily they were not in critical systems but as soon as I put in a Antec or other quality supply... they are still running today. Example: My AthlonXP 3000+ system started with a noname 400W PSU. Within a few months it died (and took a nvidia FX5200Ultra with it) and I replaced it with an Antec 350W and this computer is still going strong today (typing from it right now). ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair!
