Your Videocard has no fan?
Take off your side panel and use a fan to blow air in. Not a computer fan but a house fan.

I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220

It has a heatsink at least right? Some of my older cards didn't even have heatsinks.

THIS is what a radeon 9550 256MB looks like. Most have fans, but some are passively cooled.

As for you indeedhelp, follow the instructions given before:

4) If this problem happens in a specific game, check to see if there are any patches available.
That is about the best advice one can give. I want to stress the tip to check the cards fan, to ensure it's spinning and the heatsink is free of dust.

This is a good method of making sure you have a clean\fresh driver install:

1. Download Driver Cleaner here, install
2. Uninstall current ATI CC\Drivers|uninstall utility
3. restart
4. run DC, clean for all ATI
5. restart
6. Install latest ATI drivers found here
When you go to ATI's download support page (the link in step 6 above) and click on the link corresponding to which operating system you are running. Then click "Radeon" on the next page that comes up (because that is what series video card you have), then click on the link that mentions "Catalyst" and has "- driver download" at the end.

What operating system are you running on? Make sure that if you are downloading the Catalyst Control Center for WindowsXP that you first download and install Microsoft's .NET framework or else the driver install will have a fit and not install.

If you've followed all previous instructions to a T, I would try one of two things. If you have a known good video card (perhaps you could borrow one from a friend) to test to see if the problem lies with the card or with the rest of the computer. Also, does the problem occur with no video drivers installed?
