Default Re: Quick question on SLI

alright in terms of res, your monitor will do up to 1440x900

also, its always good to set game settings yourself. if it already isnt, set the resolution of DOOM 3 to 1440x900 and test it out. if it lags, lower some other settings and see if u dont mind having those settings lower, because it is nicer to play at ur monitor's native res.

now, if its already at 1440x900 and you're playing as u like it (according to what u said before) then you're fine.

NOTE

DOOM 3 does not natively support your monitor's resolution. it does fully if you go here

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com...p?title=Doom_3

follow the directions and then you can game at your native 1440x900 resolution. its probably at 1280x1024 for you right now -- which is what you don't want...

or possibly at 1024x768 since it detected 900 vertical pixels...

nice thing about that hack is that it doesnt stretch the image at all to fit the "wideness" -- it literally shows more (which is exactly what it should be) - great job by Racer_S who set that up!

p.s./edit

new sig i lowered the opacity on the writing -- too overpowering before...

when i get my new monitor, ill be changing "LG 16x DVD ROM" to the monitor model # and merge the DVD-ROM with the DVD-RW. thats just there now for the sake of having 4 things with black accents, and 4 things with red.

Which DDR3 set-up should I use in my new build? HELP!

I'd just like to comment that finding drivers isn't the problem, its the fact that new hardware and operating systems always need time to develop fast/stable drivers.

Either route you go, the 7900GT, the 8800, or the ATi route with the X1950XT, you should do very well with a single card. Of course with the 8800 you have DX10 so you won't need to upgrade later.

Yeah, at that resolution you have no reason to even worry about going with SLI as you would be better off buying a better single card than spending the money on a second card. It is only when you get into really high resolutions (above 1920x1200) and dual monitor gaming setups that the benefits of SLI or CrossFire. For the rest of us normal people, a good single card should be enough for gaming. Especially with Doom 3, that's not an extremely graphically demanding game (relatively speaking, compared to other modern games like F.E.A.R or Oblivion).

EDIT:
And St!x, maybe if you organized the text in the sig image a little better it would be easier to read/comprehend... Looking good so far though!

8800GTS 320MB is a nice addition to the line! that was one (finally) really smart move by nVidia. its the dawning of "budget high end cards" - it wont cost an arm and a leg to own DX10 and get all the full benefits of it along with vista and the new games! woo!

consider it its a good idea i guarantee you wont be dissapointed!
