| I would give Vista a little longer than that as there are some programs that have problems with Vista right now also. |

| i say wait till vista SP1 before even touching it. thats my take on it. as for your hardware its perfectly fine atm the games just wont be able to have the eye candy all enabled. and thats nothing to do with any hardware except for the GPU of course. |

| This machine has never saw windows xp, so I dont have the option atm to not use vista as I opted to not buy xp then vista later. Havent had many problems at all finding drivers and stuff for my current setup, just read bad things on vista and the 8800's and would like it to be able to run EQ and vanguard if possible for the time being. | if ur alright with vista now then, keep it, no reason to DOWNGRADE if its not degrading any of your hardware at this point. as per video card upgrades, wait for SP1 and/or driver updates/new releases. |

| I'm Diggin it! | A single 7900 will outperform two 6800's in SLI. I picked a 7950GT video card thinking I would go with another one at a later date. However, seeing how well the 8800 series of cards are performing in DX9 games, I've decided I'll wait a year for Vista to mature and then do an upgrade to Vista and a DX10 card at the same time. The 6800 should play the large majority of your games at ok frame rates. Right now though, I just can't recommend putting too much into a DX9 card nor can I recommend going with even the cheapest ($299) DX10 card. It's a tough spot to be in. | Modder-ator | Ok, no one has even mentioned gaming resolutions here. Let's start back at the beginning and figure out what resolution the original poster will be gaming at. Or if you plan on getting a new monitor within the lifespan of this GPU purchase, what size would you like to get? It is very likely that you really shouldn't even bother wasting your time with a dual graphics setup like SLI or CrossFire... |

| yep its a good idea to know that, however if he's happy with the games he plays for now i dont think it matters quite yet... however, if he's still considering an upgrade, this would be important information! edit: new avatar/sig =] |
