| or you could try these: Newegg.com - eVGA GeForce 7600GS 256-A8-N542-T2 Video Card - Retail Newegg.com - BIOSTAR GeForce 6800XT V6802XA52 Video Card - Retail $114, 512MB RAM! (note that this is a AGP 6800 so the pipes could most likely be unlocked to 16, which with some OC could double the performance!) Newegg.com - BIOSTAR GeForce 6800XT V6802XA21 Video Card - Retail Newegg.com - HIS Hightech Radeon X1650PRO H165PRQ256AN-R IceQ Video Card - Retail you could also OC your CPU to handle the card. the 845 chipset is known for good OC potential and/or you could also change the CPU to a used pentium 2.5 or 2.8 which could also be nicely OC'd :) oh and you should at least double the ram (just get another 256mb pc2100 used for cheap) Main rig: Chieftec modded case,MSI P4N Diamond, D830@3.48Ghz,1.4V,928FSB 2GB patriot Extreme Performance 6400@900Mhz, 4-4-4-17 Inno3D 7900GT@542Mhz/1.6Ghz, Thermalright SI-97 Samsung 320GB, Maxtor 250GB; Antec 500W Swiftech NB, Asus StarIceBlue CPU cooler; XP Pro Laptop: Dell XPS 1530 (T7500; 3GB 667 RAM; 160GB 7200rpm HDD; 8600GT; Vista 32bit) my 6800LE mod Last edited by sbohdan; January 12th, 2007 at 19:59. |

| In looking at your sig, i noticed there is already a 9550 AGP there? I think the best would be to get a videocard first, then try to get like sbohan said, 2.4-2.8ghz cpu. I would suggest getting another 512 stick but a new cpu and a new videocard is mroe important. E2140 @ 375 x 8 = 3.0ghz 2x1 ocz system 1337s pc2-6400 5-5-5-15 @ 450mhz gigabyte P35 S3L eVGA 7600GT Stock 120 gig seagate ULTRA X-Finity 600w Sonata 2 w/ top fan G5 Lazer Mouse | |

then justin is right: forget the ram and get a card, then eighter OC the hell out of the CPU or get a bigger pentium - retaining and upgrading your old system would be cheaper. also: it would be less risky to learn how to OC on it, then on a brand new, expensive rig :) remember: OC'ing requires better cooling and you better read up everything on it from the forum and if you aren't sure of something, just ask before you do it. | socket 939 junkie | i would personally save up for a new computer. but if i were to do it incrementally i would first get a good case/psu combo from antec then maybe buy a new processor; prolly a D805 since theyre cheap as dirt and offer dualcore. plus theyre on a platform that can be upgradeable. then later on get a mid to high end motherboard then ram, and a dvd burner. snag that 80gb hard drive out of the compaq (for now) and finish off with the video card. |

| True, Simple has the best idea so far. Buy a C2D ready mobo (there are tons of 945s that support it under $70) and buy a Pentium D 805. Buy some DDR2 value RAM and you'll be good to go. - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64 Dell Inspiron 5150 - Pentium 4 @ 3.06GHz w/ HT Tech - 512MB PC2700 RAM - 80GB WD Scorpio 5400RPM HD - nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 32MB - XP Pro SP3 |
