I got mine @ Frys.

I don't imagine they have those in Canada!

Directron had a good price on it.
There's no fry's here in Iowa either so I use newegg or I'll go to CompUSA if it's something small and not to expensive.

I found the 7800GS at NCIX. It's priced at around 308 dollars by EVGA. The 7800GS-OC from BFG was 80 dollars more. Not getting that for sure.
For a hundred dollars more though, theres the 7900GT from EVGA. Tough call.

I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220

Welcome to the forum.
Both nvidia and ATI make good cards so it's more a matter of choice. Your right about needing a new computer, that ones getting a little old for gaming.

Default well then

well hopefully i will be moving on to multi gpu(starting with one card, eventually move to two as i acquire the monies), but my concern is which brand to choose, there are so many, and my friends arent much help in this area.

I have been looking at the X1xxx cards and the 7600s and 7900s, i would say i play a fair amount of games, mostly DoW, CS:S, CoD2 and elder scrolls iv, but my pos 9600 cant really handle anything, not to mention my slow processor. As far as price ranges, i would say nothing above 325, so midrange system stuff . . . Currently i have a system priced out to be about 900 bucks with a 7900gt, after looking at ati's cards, i found a X1800XT, which adds another 50 to that.

I figure i could oc the Pentium D 805 to a reasonable speed, but should i be getting a better processor to match the gpu? I just really want my games to run better.

I'd wait for AMD's price cuts later this month before making a decision, especially with overclocking in mind. DailyTech reports that the 3800+ X2 will be plummeting to $169 (LINK). Coupled with a decent kit of PC4000, you could have quite the powerhouse on your hands for a bargain bin price.

On a side note, where in Michigan are you? I'm over in the Kalamazoo / Portage area and another one of our staffers resides in this wasteland of 9 month winters as well. :P
