Cheaper? Link? Better performance? :? Are you sure you're not thinking 7600GS? As far as I remember, the 7600GT wins over the X1800GTO. Edit: Ok wins, that might be a bit too much. But they're both very close. Doom 3 = same perf Riddick = 7600GT Fear = X1800GTO etc etc Either way, the X1800GTO is not cheaper and will never be cheaper. Think about it, ATI is forced to use a high performance GPU watered down. Productions costs are high for those, while Nvidia can use a small and cheap yet effective GPU, only for the 7600 series. That's where they save, and whenever ATI drops the price Nvidia can drop it even more.

But I got to tell ya polo, I much prefer Nvidia over ATI by a long shot!!! If I am able to get a good s939, or am2 system built for myself, (as everyone can see I am still running old school, but still very fast ), I will be going Nvidia!!!I have a pal of mine that swears by ATI, and I have seen the card in action, I think it is some kind of 850 or maybe an earlier 800 card, and it looks very very good, but I just have been so lucky with my choice of using Nvidia. I had bought a ATI card a few years ago, really can't remember what card iit was, but man, it was a piece of crap :!: The very next day, I took it back to where I bought it and exchanged it for a geforce 2! That will tell all of ya how long ago that was  Well needless to say, I couldn't believe the difference in video quality! The Geforce blew that ATI away! Well I have been a Nvidia fan every since. I know, I know, all of you ATI fans are shaking your heads saying "what is wrong with this character", but I have had great luck with all of my Nvidia cards, and I figure, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" I have even thought about purchasing a good ATI card and installing into a second system, just to check it out, but whewwwww that is just a little over my means cash wise to spend a couple of hundred bucks just to see if and how much of a difference there really is  Ok, I have babbled long enough :P Again, thanks so much guys for all of the responses AND the links!!! ![]()

| T-Rex | Bah don't try to stick with one company just because you like them. Get the better deal, always. ;D I used to swear by Intel, i'm all AMD now since AMD64. My boss is just like you, one bad experience and he ditched ATI forever lol, only to be deceived recently again. ![]() Sad thing is, he caught 2 broken cards out of the box haha No prob mate. |

| yeah, 2 bad cards from the same manufacturer/chipset maker can tend to put you "on tilt", but hell, I didn't swear off Nvidia when I got a couple of bad Ti4400's back in the day.......just kept going with them.....just like I'm planning on grabbing the 7600GT pretty soon here. And actually, I wouldn't just go for the bargain, I would go for a mixture of value, long-term performance, and reliability, not to mention warranty. Kinda like XFX's double lifetime warranty, I happen to think that to be one of the best things to happen in the graphics card industry in awhile in concerns with how they back their parts. like I said, not a bad choice with the 7600GT :) |

However, I would choose a 7600GT over a 7800GT, they perform nearly the same! If you a contemplating spending the cash for a 7800GT, you would be better of with a 7900GT or just drop back to a 7600GT. Might also want to look into the X1900GT's. There is one from Connect3D that goes on and off of rebate and can be had for $199 after rebate at NewEgg! EDIT: HERE it is!!! Don't wait too long though, the rebate expires on the 31st of August!
