If it happens, will we still get SLI on AMD boards? That's what I'm concerned about here.

I don't see how they can't be. Both use PCI-e slots and that where it matters as far as I know.

I don't think that something you'll have to worry about.

nVidia has nothing to worry about - they don't need whatever resources Intel has to offer. ATI is the one that needs help - remember how the ATI's 9X00 series owned everything yet the Green Giant bounced back two years later? And remember how early the 7 series was released before ATI's competitive product came out? And can you imagine how many nForce chipsets this company sold throughout the years (nForce, 2, 3, and 4 variants?) This is a sign of their strength in the markets they're in - graphics and core logic, among other things. No way would they ever want to take the spot of second banana when they can be top dog.

IF nVidia and Intel did merge, they would have so much marketshare it would be ridiculous. Both companies have HUGE reputations installed in the minds of customers... there'd be no way this wouldn't be monopolizing the industry.

I agree with you there. And that's the reason I believe is why they asked three times as much as ATI.
