not likely to find a quality power supply that is 600W+ and $50 or less.

your best bet if you want this price range and wattage is this:

Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power RP-550-PCAR ATX from factor 12V V2.01 550W Power Supply 110-115V/ 220-230V Nemko, TUV, cUL, CE, BSM, FCC, CCC - Retail

With just about any power supply, you will get much better performance from a higher quality 550W than you would from a cheap 700W

If you don't mind spending a bit more, jump into the awesome modular setups from Corsair, this is the 550W version (I have the HX650W) which is an awesome power supply!!!

Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX ATX12V V2.2 550W Power Supply 90 - 264 V UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC Class B, TUV, CCC, C-tick - Retail
$79.99 after $20 MIR

Thanks HL and Corsair!

i guess ill have to go higher for quality

wow thanks those look good but from what i read is that the power supply must have some type of amp like this for the cards that are above

+12v 34amp or 40 amp max dont know about single or double rail?? what is better

also my mb fic k8mc51g-LF it has a 24 pin power supply socket and a 4 pin power socket near the cpu

the 300w power supply in it now has a 20 pin plug in the 24 socket and a 4 pin plug in then 4 pin socket. with the new power supply i would like a 24pin but would i still have to use a 4 pin plug too

Am I right to assume you will be taking the power supply with you on to the next upgraded machine and pairing it with an upgraded card at a later date?

If so ... then the single rail Corsair should be able to adequately support your next-gen build just fine.

The Antec Neo HE 430 is cheaper and it will power that PC no problem. My dad's PC has one and it is very nice for the price\performance. It is rated @ 50C etc.

all of these new power supplies have a 24pin main plug plus an extra 4pin for the motherboard which should be standard... plus a 6 pin PCIe power connector for the video cards that take it.

god guys thanks a million for the help

ok i went to 3 different power supply cal and got was 432w, 485w, 565w
this is with everything i have plus the 7900gtx and 8800gtx card and extra dvd that i dont have to give me a bit more

so i would guess a 550w or 600 is more than enough but i have only found 2 that have +12v 34amp or 40 amp max and they are way up there

most have +12v 14a, 18a, 20a
