| From what I understand, supposedly the 9 series parts we're seeing now should be made on the 55nm process. The earlier 9 series did not, and you can't really tell when buying the cards as the manufacturers don't distinguish. ![]() |

| you could complain and see if they get a 8800GTX somewhere. Someone on the EVGA forum had the same issue with you, and he got a replacement 8800GTX after complaining about receiving a 9800GTX |

| I might try. I was under the presumption that I got a 9800 because there weren't any 8800's left... at all. Is it worth the trouble? |

| putting aside the fact that the 9800 is about the same performance, don't forget the G92 core OC's better and uses way less power and doesn't run as hot as the old G80.... I would be just happy with the 9800GTX Main rig: Chieftec modded case,Gigabyte GA-P45-DS3L, Q8200@3.1Ghz,1.3V,1720FSB 4GB OCZ Reaper 8500@1066Mhz, 5-5-5-15 Asus 8800GS@701Mhz/1.8Ghz, Seagate 500GB Samsung 320GB, Maxtor 250GB; Antec 500W Swiftech NB, Asus StarIceBlue CPU cooler; XP Pro Laptop: Dell XPS 1530 (T7500; 3GB 667 RAM; 160GB 7200rpm HDD; 8600GT; Vista 32bit) my 6800LE mod |

| T-Rex | Once again, no. Both have the same performance, seriously. Just look at the multitude of benches available on the net, you don't have to believe my word for it... |

| But the 8800GTX performs better at higher res than the 9800GTX. Also did you get a 9800GTX or a 9800GTX+? Its shown by many people because of the memory bus. Here's the EVGA thread: Did they screw me over? |

| I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | I'm with Polo on this one, and this also applies to higher resolutions. Read through some reviews that have direct comparisons of both cards and then decide if it's worth the hassle and return shipping to get another 8800GTX. Review 1 Review 2 Review 3 Review 4 and so on... |

| Thanks for the info and help you all. I'll be giving EVGA a call in the mean time, see what my options are. I'm not sure. The typical nondescript package that they sent me has an id tag of just "9800 GTX". but anywhere I see the drivers displayed on my computer, they're named "9800 GTX / 9800 GTX+". Is there a verdict on this? |

| I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | That's because the drivers are the same for the 9800GTX and GTX+. If it says GTX on the box, then that's what you got. |
