Let me clarify, usually when I take my heatsink off of my VGa's I am replacing them with a quieter and better model. So I have never had to try to reseat the stock cooler. So listen to those that have posted and follow their directions. Or get a new vga cooler.

I picked up some compressed air and I'm going to give that a try. I think I'll leave the heatsink alone and just try cleaning it without taking it apart.
