Along with the clock speeds, it does have 4.0 shaders, so this card is set for a loonnggg time. If you take that into perspective, maybe the price can be justified. The special $830 special price on BFGs site anyways. I'd still never buy it though.

I'd still like to know what's going on with the R600. If I have to I WILL march down to AMD/ATi HQ and peacefully protest my outrage. It will make pedestrian's cry from awesomeness.

Could you clarify this please? I'm looking at this chart and don't notice any difference between the Ultra and GTX besides clock speeds (and the resulting memory bandwidth differences)...

its just another way for nvidia to make money, sure you put a new label on a card and say its the best, but cmon other GTXs can be overclocked and can clearly beat it. Almost the same thing with the 6800 Ultra. I still dont get the whole craze over DX10 cards since no games actually support it yet.

Shader Model 4.0 support is required for any card claiming DirectX 10 compliance. All the 8xxx series have this...

Well, there isn't a huge craze over DX10 cards simply for the fact that they support DX10, but because they perform better in DX9 as well. There is little denying the fact that the 8800 cards are prettymuch the cream of the crop right now whether you are on Windows XP or Vista, DX9 games or DX10 games.
