| It seems like most users who have a 7800GT or GTX are not going to make the switch to a 7900 because it is not that much of a difference. In my opinion, if the savings are big, then get a 7800GT. ![]() I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220 |

| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | Ty, Thats not exactly true. You can pick up the 7900 GTX from Newegg right now for $475..... A single 7900GTX will beat a pair of 7800GTs in SLI, plus if you go one 7900GTX now, you always have the option of upgrading to a second one down the road INTEL E8400 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 4GB DDR3-1600 // Palit HD 4870 // Antec 1200 // Seagate 750GB HDD // Zalman CNPS9700 // BFG ES 800W PSU |

| Modder-ator | Personally, if you are between two 7800GT's in SLI or a single 7900GTX, I would definately go with the single 7900GTX. It seems that the performance is about on par, and you don't have to deal with two cards and SLI crap. It is much more simple with a single card. I will usually always recommend buying a single faster card over a dual graphics solution anyday. As far as the 7800GT goes, it looks like it might just be the newest and best bang for your buck card out there. The price at launch is already pretty reasonable (compared to the 7800GT) and it will only go down from here. The 7900GT outperforms the 7800GT in every aspect and doesn't cost much more. But the 7800GT is still a good buy, especially considering all the good deals available on it now that the 7900 series cards have hit the market. Personally, if I were in your shoes, I would get a single 7900GT and spend the cash saved over a GTX on something more worthwhile (like better cooling for processor or video card or nicer speakers or a bigger/better monitor or something). But a 7900GTX is a great card too, don't get me wrong. It's just that I can't really justify spending that much money on a video card. However, if you managed to fanagle yourself a nice 20" or larger LCD and will be running your games at high resolution with full AA and AF, then a 7900GTX miiiiight be worth your while... |
