One thing that Nvidia has worked hard on with the GeForce 9800 GX2 is its appeal to a wider market. As a direct result of this, the company has introduced a number of new features onto the GeForce 9800 GX2 to help make using the card a little more straight forward for a novice.

Not always. If you've purchased a reasonable PSU in the last 6-months to a year it will probably have at least one 8-pin PCI-Express power connection, I know mine does. Indeed it is a little counter-intuitive to claim a video card is novice friendly when it requires a very up to date PSU, but if you're willing to plunk down $600 for a video card, you probably don't have to worry too much about the balance of your bank account and are probably already buying a new PSU too (if you don't already have one).

why did nvidia cut the memory bus width? amd doesn't seen to need it but nvidia can use it. look at the reviews where the 9800gx2 is tested against gtx/ultras. the g80 come out on top at high resolution and filters turned on.

6 Pin PCI-E to 8 Pin PCI-E2 Adapter Cable - FrozenCPU.com

Theres others, such as one that connects also to a molex but if your PSU can handle the high drain of the 8-pin plug cards then this should work fine.

Yeah, I didn't really plan on actually spending for another PSU. I would have hand-crafted an adaptor. Though I remember the one I did for my 4pin burned for some reason.

Edit: Which reminds me I still have to find a 9pin serial port bracket for my mobo. Yeah that's just my luck really, my mobo comes with an internal serial port but they didn't give me the bracket with it. @_@

oh um since polo revived the thread, my GTS is all packed up and gonna send it back to EVGA tomorrow. So 1 week of no desktop (on my laptop which btw the 8600GS Mobile doesn't do 1920X1200 resolution very well) then i get my GX2!!!! Just hope my Corsair wont blow up on me lol
