its ok, they can move on the BFG

But honestly, why couldn't EVGA use that color scheme on the GX2 =(
oh well, not like you can see the card anyway in my P182.
2 MORE DAYS TILL MY GX2 COMES!

Oh and honestly if the GTX released, i'd prob have stepped up to the GTX for no additional cost, even if it is the same card as the GTS G92, just with Tri-Sli support

can anyone explain to me why is this THING called 9800GTX, when it's the same memory bus width and memory amount, not to mention the same core (G92) as the 8800GTS? to me it seems just like a retail gimmick to fool those who don't know, to think it's new technology so they would buy it for this reason...

actually it looks like a bad joke (being released on april 1st.) to call it GTX. the 8800GTX had 384bit mem bus (vs 256bit) and 768MB (vs.512MB) of RAM. shouldn't technology move forward instead of backward?

well i think the main reason for the GTX badge name is because of its tri-sli support.
they trying to keep the GT/GTS only SLI.

1GB won't give a very big boost in performance but I agree with you it's a bit "low". Someone buying a 9800GTX is expected to play at high resolution, with high resolution textures, anisotropic filtering, HDR, yadda yadda. The first two can quickly suck the memory out of your card. =P

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

its just honestly a rebadged GTS G92 with tri-sli support.
although again i say they should've stuck with their green theme for all their 9000 card, god the red on the gx2 looks like such a shotty job. Oh well i get my gx2 tomorrow, so TONS OF PICS!

Rebadged, overclocked GTS I guess.
I think they should have named it 8900 or 8850, not 9800. Makes more sense this way in my opinion. It's a new core, but it has already been used for the 8800GT and 8800GTS.
Or then they should have named the 8800GT and new G92 GTS GeForce 9somethingsomething. But I still prefer the first idea.
It's not a whole new series, just a "refresh". Why they named it 9800GTX will forever puzzle me. :P

It really should have been 8900GTX, with the 512 GTS the 8900GTS, and the GT the 8900GT. I'm guessing it's because the next architecture they roll out is gonna be a good sized departure from what G80-G92 was, and so they'll be revising the naming convention from the 10800GTX to something else (I've heard GeForce X floating around).

Apparently July will bring 9900 series. We'll see how that goes.
