I could go more indepth with clocks and bandwidths, but I think you can get the idea of the power of each card by the listed specs. 8800GT chews up the 9600GT, while the 9600GT completely dominates the pathetic 8600. The 9600 also ships with Nvidia's newests PureVideo that's found on the 8800GT and GTS 512 as well, so it makes a good multi-purpose budget card; handles games decently and plays multimedia quite well like the 8600 (which is about the only use for the 8600).
Errhumm...my card is not pathetic , mister! :aetsch::bootyshake: I'll have you know that it will play any game out there...just not as well as your high end cards!

I can still play pretty much anything out there including Crysis... this is on my X1950GT

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Don't worry OMG, I've got a 8600GT as well. It's not a bad card, but when following the trend from the 6600GT to the 7600GT which were excellent cards in the midrange, the 8600GT is a serious letdown considering how powerful the 8800 is.

The 9600GT makes up for this, though, and is actually what the 8600 SHOULD have been to begin with.

My 7600gt could handle crysis, lol... albeit at 800x600 and with everything turned on low.

But it still managed to look good... that's what surprised me.

I had mine at 1440x900 and everything at medium (except sound at high since I have an X-fi) and it was playable around 25-30 fps... different systems give different results
