Oh and what brand is the video card? Asus, XFX, BFG . . .

One more thing is this AGP or PCI Express?
its nvidia geforce 7600gs 256 on board memory, and to answer your question its AGP because thats what my motherboard supports.

Well thats a nice idea however directx 10 is not meant for windows xp its for vista only if I am not mistaken , also my computer runs on windows xp home edition service pack two. I have done already what you suggested before and it made no difference, I have tried various graphics settings ranging from standard to having everything that I can off to see if it would make any difference and of course the answer to that question was the latter lol. To be perfectly honest I am getting rather annoyed for the purposes of politeness on here which does not describe fully how I feel right now!.

Like I said earlier I have tried everything I know and eliminated several possibilities, out of date drivers, overheating and the onboard fan on the card for it turns. I have listed my specs for my computer on here and since no one commented about it then I can assume its nothing to do with my computer in that respect. I mean the only reason I upgraded was so that I could play splinter cell double agent on th pc since I have played it on the gamecube and wanted to enjoy the enhanced graphics. One other possibility I elimated was the card which I exchanged for another obviously the same make lol and it aint that. I appologise if I sound like I am wining

DirectX 10...Click the image to open in full size. That was likely a result of our resident kung-fu Googler (Lead Head) typing faster than his thought process. Click the image to open in full size. But he is on track with zeroing in on the drivers. Let's step back a moment.

1) What card did you upgrade from? Specifically, was it an ATI card? A possible culprit for what you're seeing is a driver conflict between old remnants, and the current nVidia drivers. Regardless of whether you're coming from an ATI or nVidia driver, let's start fresh.
  • Click on the Start menu
  • Click on Control Panel
  • Double-click Add/Remove programsUninstall any videocard drivers, specifically looking for ATI, Catalyst, and/or nVidia
  • Reboot your system, and when it tries to automatically install drivers for the 'new hardware,' click Cancel and then install the latest nVidia drivers you downloaded from their website

2) Did you upgrade from onboard video? If so, poke around in your BIOS (hit the Delele key during bootup) and look for onboard or integrated video, and disable it.

3) What make/model is your power supply? The 7600GS isn't particularly power hungry by any means, but it's worth looking into nonetheless.

4) While on the topic of specs, what make/model is your motherboard?

5) And finally, click on Start menu again, and in the Run box, type dxdiag and hit return. Verify that Directx 9.0C is installed. Then, click on the Display tab and run the two DirectX tests.

Ok so i was browsing around with the whole 7600gs agp problem thing, and well looks like from what i've read, it could be:
-- your power supply (ie not supplying enough power or not hooking up the molex connector to the card)

-- a problem with the motherboard's chipset (looked like VIA chipsets had problems with nvidia cards)

-- Bad drivers for the card

-- the AGP slot itself malfunctioning

-- The core of the video card being faulty

-- Or the speed of the AGP slot not being correct

If you had looked on the page, or had clicked the download the latest Direct X, you would have seen that it was the installer for DirectX9. Not entirely my fault that Microsoft decided to fill the page with Direct X 10 info, for a DX9 download.Click the image to open in full size.

Anyways, usually Microsoft has/had monthly builds of Direct X 9, and I guess if its possible that you are running an older build, your drivers may not like it. So I would still go with updating to the latest build.

You need to be more clear and make sure your hyperlinks aren't showing up as DirectX 10, while following it up by telling a poster to download the "newest version", which (drum roll) would be DirectX 10. Not even Linus Torvald could pin that on Microsoft....

The appropriate link to supply would have been THIS ONE.

I upgraded from a ATI Radeon X700 graphics card but my computer first had a ATI 8500LE graphics card that came with the computer with 128mb of on board membory.

3) What make/model is your power supply? The 7600GS isn't particularly power hungry by any means, but it's worth looking into nonetheless. I have no idea I am sorry to say

4) While on the topic of specs, what make/model is your motherboard? Again I do not know what the make of my motherboard is lol

I will do what you suggested again! and see if it makes any difference I will let you know the results, the make of my computer is Advent 3410

After looking around, I found this page here
UKT Support - Advent 3410 PC

It listed your motherboard as an ECS L7VMM, which uses the VIA KM266 chipset. Mithosphere said that some nvidia cards have issues with VIA chipsets. So it looks like you might be out of luck, unless theres a work around.
