| I was actually quite amazed to see Danger Den water cooling kits and cases (Torture Rack, Air Box, and Water Box) being sold at our local Fry's Electronics INTEL QX9650 ASUS Maximus Extreme 4GB DDR3-1600 Sapphire HD 3870X2 Danger Den Torture Rack (Custom W/C) Seagate 750GB HDD BFG ES 800W PSU | ||||||||||||||

| The flat ribbon cables don't get used because we're all S/Ata I suppose. So leave it in the box and don't fret too much about it not being rounded. The price fits IMO. Paid about the same for the 925xe and the 975 when it was released too. The 875 was $300 IIRC in a sea of $125 865 boards. Asus is just the cream of the crop and they know it. Abit has a great x48 board fitted *jitters* to DDR2 pretty cheap. I don't feel cheap and x48 belong in the same sentence though. x38 will fit those even thinking of cheap...and p35 for those still thinking of using ribbon cables. Heck, even G33 then? The x48 Premium has been giving just what it has promised. Neat board to say the least, but not for those just wanting the common great performance. You can get by with not being the best with the x38 Deluxe and still be the best of the bunch. The Premium guys, have a nut loose in some form or fashion, and don't mind telling you I have a screw loose too. It's glorious overkill, and the wallet hurts more than I do personally. It's the first real DDR3 chipset and you pay to see what it can do. Just like the 875 and the 925xe in that respect. Buy it? If you want it by all means. But count in the DDR3 and Quad Penryn. | congrats man, keep us updated on your new parts! here are some 10 minute load temps. keep in mind my chip is WC on it own loop. ![]() notice there is a difference in reported voltage between cpuz and everest. the bios and everest voltages are the same though. its probably a mobo issue. ![]() stock 42.25 C overclocked 43.5 C most people will run the chip 3.5 - 3.8 GHz. i think its pretty awesome there's only about a 1 degree difference between 2.66 and 3.5 under load. | ||||||||||||||

| yup i shall with build log too :) im planning to have a serious build for the future hence a quad core may be on the cards. if i had to oc this to 3.0 ghz would it be possible without changing voltages? as it is either this or the e8400. and does any one have any air temps? ill be using the thermaltake tsunami dream for the build :) (unless someone can tell me a good reason not to lol) ![]() If at first you dont succeed...... try and try to get a refund | ||||||||||||||

| Well, the P5E3 Premium topped out at 479x9 (4.31GHz) processor OC and 533x7.5 FSB OC....which is about 20MHz further than the X38 board. The memory OC is much better, the X38 board topped out around 1840MHz with everything left at "auto", and the X48 scaled all the way to 1917MHz. The Gigabyte X48T-DQ6 is currently at 480x9 and going through stability testing.....pretty impressive boards. Pricing is still about right. I see the same 20Mhz boost in cycles, but then again the benches are better clock for clock (all things being even). Given that 20Mhz perk, plus the built in perks*, it's worth that $50 more for the x48 IMO. I see some results going the other way, and lay that on beta BIOS versions as I have never seen it falter to the x38. What I'm a bit afraid of is the speculation of adding another 4G, filling all the slots, and it won't get that extra 20-25Mhz. Another roll of the dice I suppose. (*Assuming the Deluxe had the extra 20Mhz, the x48 still succeeds in actual performance outcomes) BTW, have you stuck a 9800GX2 in there and see what it does? | lemmie just start by saying... TAXES CAN RUIN UR WEEK IN 3 SECONDS FLAT a.k.a i didnt have enoug for my board :'(. But i wanted to ask on the general scale of things, how much value is getting the x48t-dq6 by gigabyte? See i know i knock on the ddr2 vs ddr3 debate, but with the e8400 being a ludacris price right now im thinking to the future and i found a decent pair of ram (corsair dhx 10600) but im not sure if its an increased performance over ddr2? any help? ![]() If at first you dont succeed...... try and try to get a refund | ||||||||||||||
