3. After the BIOS is flashed and the system reboots....shutdown the system, and clear the BIOS, either by jumper or by pulling the battery.......then power it back on and update the settings you want in the BIOS. ?????? What the heck is this? I didn't see this on the Asus website. But I trust you. So after I update and it reboots, shut it down and take out the cmos battery and put it back in and then reset my Bios settings for memory, overclocking ect....Is this what your talking about?
1. The BIOS file you downloaded came in a .zip file. Unzip it, and there should be a .rom file in it.

2. USB key: USB flash drive - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

3. After the BIOS flash, there is a jumper on the mobo. I looks something like this: http://www.tomshw.it/guides/motherbo...mos_jumper.jpg to find where it is on your board, look in your mobo manual. Move the jumper from pins "1 and 2" to "2 and 3" for ~10 seconds, then back again.

You threw me some curves here. I haven't read anything like this, but like I said...your "the man". I'll do it. Let me know about #1,2, and 3.
My wife doesn't know I bought the quad this past summer and I'll do it tomorrow when she's at work so she don't ask me a mililon questions. (hee hee.)
No worries at all......

1. When you download the BIOS update from ASUS' website, it'll be in a zipped file. You'll want to unzip that file. You should have a file that looks like this "P5E3D1001.ROM" (Notice the "ROM", the rest is dependent on the board you are using).

2. Put the UNZIPPED file onto a formatted floppy disk or USB key, and reboot your system.

3. When the system reboots, you should have a logo, or the POST screen, press the "DELETE" key, which will take you into the BIOS. Across the top of the BIOS home screen are a bunch of different menus, over to the top right, you'll see "Tools"....go to that menu, and there you should find EZ-Flash. Click on that.....and follow the directions.

After flashing a BIOS, its always wise to power down the system and manually clear the CMOS, a lot of people never do that and experience problems such as corrupted BIOS or instability....its a simple but overlooked step.
