It wouldn't even post this time, I'm going to RMA it for a 3800+ to see if there is anymore luck there.

WOW, two bad chips in a row?? That's bordering on unlikely. I'm NOT saying I don't believe you, I just think there might be a possibility that something else is causing problems. Is your board still working fine with the Venice?

that is strange! It's unlikely that two of the chips are bad. Mabye there is something gone bad with the mobo?

The first chip at least posted [and halt at a fatal error]-- this chip won't even post at all.

No-- but, could it be that I used my old 3000+ heatsink the last time? I doubt that's it, but you never know.

I don't see any way that would affect the system considering I think that both processors ship with the same type of heatsink.

The 3700+ comes with a revised latching mechanism [which is nearly impossible to latch].
