| GV2NIX.. Good to hear you sorted out your problem ! Are you using the stock cooler for your 170 ? As Capper said most of the Expert boards tend to read about 10 degrees lower then the temp really is.. Which if true your temps seem a little on the high side.. But nothing to freak about... ;) I would do like Blake said and get a thermal probe on it and that will give you an idea of where they are.. How are the rest of your temps ? |

| I'm using an XP-90C with a 92x38mm Delta EFB fan. Excellent combination in my opinion both for noise reduction and airflow! I want to a do a review of Delta fans, but I don't have noise analyzing hardware/software and I don't have a bunch of Delta fans, haha! Plus, it's probably been done already. I got a thermal sensor, but because of the thick cellophane used to protect the probe, I can't get the probe close enough to the edge of the IHS to take an accurate reading. I'm considering investing in an infrared thermometer (I can use it for a bunch of other stuff too), so I think that'll solve the problem. I have a sneaky suspicion that my temps aren't actually that far off. The temps that I'm reading seem to be reasonable for a dual core opty with an XP-90C and a 92mm Delta tri-blade. Once I have some free time, I'm going to lap my XP-90C and my IHS because I think both surfaces might be a irregular. My guess is, at the moment, my temps are about 34/46 with fan speeds at about 40%/100% respectively (running 2.7GHz @ 1.425V btw) Thanks for checking up! I'll post more stuff as it comes to me. :) CPU: Opteron 170 @ 2.70GHz (270x10) Vcore=1.425V Mobo: DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert RAM: 2x 512 OCZ PC-4800 EL Elite CL2.5-4-4-10 2T (1:1) Video: ATi Radeon X1900XT PSU: FSP Group FX700-GLN 700W My Heatware |

| Modder-ator | GV2NIX, if you got the same temp probe I got, I know what you mean about the celphane being too long to get the probe very close to the IHS of the processor. I did a little snip-snipping with a pair of scissors and just very carefully cut away about 90% of the extra celophane around the end of the probe, so now it gets much closer. Very nice overclock on that 170 though! I'm jealous :P  |

| Yeah, I snipped away some of the protector, but I'm still now sure how accurate a reading I'm getting. At any rate, I think it's pretty clear that I need to lap, so hopefully that'll help me. I'm pretty happy about 2.7 being Prime stable! Historically I've had very bad luck with Optys and Prime. Hopefully I'll be able to milk a little more out of it in a few weeks. :) CPU: Opteron 170 @ 2.70GHz (270x10) Vcore=1.425V Mobo: DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert RAM: 2x 512 OCZ PC-4800 EL Elite CL2.5-4-4-10 2T (1:1) Video: ATi Radeon X1900XT PSU: FSP Group FX700-GLN 700W My Heatware |
