I think it would be interesting to have more detailed information. Were you already considering an upgrade? If so, it might not be a bad idea to change. But if you weren't, that your machine suited you fine, it would be a shame to spend more than needed. :)

Actually, the computer was perfectly suited for my dad (who just used it to surf the web/play poker). It's not really a problem buying a new computer, we just didn't see it neccessary if this one could be fixed. About the info on the mobo, could I get that from the guys at CC, and what specifically should I find out from their diagnosis.

PS. I've just recently decided to build my own computer so all of this is sort of a good experience for me :) I'm learning a lot.

If it is just the onboard graphics chip causing the problem, you can likely just add a PCI graphics card, disable the onboard, and call it a day. We get lots of computers in with dead integrated GPUs, throw an card in there and send them on their way.
