Alright, maybe I'll go today and pick it up. I should have no problems with mixing both IDE and SATA drives if I still decide to use my 120gb? If I do this, does it matter which is the boot drive?

No, there are no issues with using SATA and PATA drives at the same time and it shouldn't matter which is the boot drive. But if you want your PATA drive as the boot drive, then adjust the BIOS appropriately and set the jumper on the PATA drive to Master. If the PATA drive is not the boot drive, then set it to Slave.

Alright, cool. Now my next question. If I do have one ide hdd and one sata hdd, does the sata have to be the slave to the ide drive or does the sata does it's own thing and set that to master?

SATA drives don't have Master/Slave jumpers. I know, I was confused at first too, but then when I realized there was no more fiddling with stupid microscopic little jumpers, I went SATA and never looked back!

So you can just leave your SATA drive alone. It is only the PATA IDE drives that you will have to juggle master/slave jumpers with.

Hey, well I don't have to worry about that IDE hdd anymore.. I installed it on my brother's computer instead. Let me admit, that was the first time I EVER fiddled with a computer. It was a war zone..the cables..all over the place..and dear god the screws. While swapping the drives, they literally got caught in the wires like spider webs or vines. Anyhow, I also stopped by compusa and bought that seagate hdd :D. Overall, it took me about 2 hours just to swap the hard drives, and right now I'm still installing windows. I'm sad at the time but slightly proud I did something like that for the first time and survived :D.

Well congrats on the first ever adventure into a computer man!!!!!!!!!!!!

It just gets easier from here......And no reason to be sad, you did a great job, if both drives installed, and now you are loading the OS without issue!!!

YYYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAA you are well on your way to being a computer geek

FLAWLESS VICTORY! Everything is smooth now. The place jipped me about this hard drive rofl, it's not even 120gb it's 111. Also, is it REALLY nescessary to install all drivers or just the ones that are question marks in the device manager?

Windows uses one form of byte conversion, the drive makers use another... so that 120GB is seen in windows as 111GB... lust liek my 320GB hd is seen in windows as a 298GB

Oooh ok, good to know. Phew, that whole thing was a workout for me. Since doing this,I think I can safely say I can also consider 965 mobos now and not worry as much :D
