eVGA doesn't make boards, they are designed by NVIDIA and made by a third party, usually Foxconn.......many companies do this....it allows them to market a product with the costs associated with R&D and fabrication.

With regards to motherboards, they're supposedly implementing solid caps (along with an 8-phase power design, more SATA ports, and other goodies that deviate from the reference design) as part of an upcoming 'FTW' line. We saw a rough looking prototype - which was really more of a mock-up than a true prototype - at this year's CES.

Or were you asking about videocards? In which case, who cares.

MSI uses all solid state caps and the like in their better stuff these days, they have been doing this for some time now...........;). Most of the companies I've messed with use solid state components on their upper level products and as you drop down the food chain, the quality of the components drops down as well.............;)

No problem with bios updates either, at least not with any of the boards I've owned

MSI P35 Platinum Combo, Intel E6750, Kingston DDR3-1375 2 x 1 gig, BFG 8800GT, Tagan ITZ 700w, Soyo 24" LCD.

Cooling by Custom Water..............

We've had quite a few MSI boards on the test bench over the past couple of years, and they are good performers......the problem is they typically stop shipping a given board within 4-6 months and don't update the BIOS for them....which is why I've stopped using their stuff. for those who aren't upgrading continuously, their boards are a good option, but for those whop are upgrading processors fairly frequently, they are a poor choice.......this just happened to us again last week with an MSI P35 board that wouldn't work at all with an E6850 or QX6850 processor.....Great board with lots of potential, just really poor BIOS support.

Bear in mind that the best motherboards use only Japanese made solid state capacitors for longevity, reduced heat, more stable voltage and maximum performance. I found such a board at a reasonable price. Fantastic!

Carl

as an addition.... all of my experience with the Gigabyte 965 board has been small issues here and there on what could be an otherwise excellent board. Now with this Gigabyte EP35-DS3P board, everything has been fixed and this is a board that works how it is supposed to. It even has allowed me to OC pretty decent when the 965 board never did.

Thanks HL and Corsair!
