Really, that's my least of considerations. I love my nForce 4, and though I've heard bad things about 680i I find Nvidia chipsets to be incredibly fast. I just need to find someone to sell the Q6700 to, really. No one wants to buy one now though, they're all wanting the new Q9XXX, whether or not they'll be able to have one in the next month, let alone at what price. :(

I'm not a big fan of the NVIDIA chipsets, the 680i and 780i boards were all real PITAs.
Personally, unless you are running a monitor bigger than 24", i don't think you need SLI or Crossfire.......having said that, I think the INTEL chipsets are the best bet right now.

I've got the ASUS P5E3 Premium, ASUS P5E 3Deluxe, Gigabyte X48T-DQ6, and ASUS Striker Extreme II all here being tested, and the X48 P5E3 Premium is the best overall performer.

I wouldn't mind a q6700... but I have no cash for one right now, lol.

And +1 for an intel chipset.

Don't need a Q6700. I just want the SLI goodness, 8800GT's are running cheap hehe :P

.

Let me guess, are you using a Sata Dvd/cd drive, AND Sata harddrives???

check this thread for info
What is this error?

i had to reinstall the O.s several times before I figured it out.
Also do NOT install media shield .

There are many threads at EVGA forums on how to cure those corrupted windows issue's,its supposedly being addressed in the next Nvidia driver update...

As for BIOS updating, I can't tell you what's wrong. You could always try Dos-on-USB (available from download.com), normally that does the trick.

By "wouldn't boot anymore" do you mean the board wouldn't powerup or your Windows instal wouldn't boot anymore? Maybe the problem is elsewhere, RAM being faulty or such.

Anyway, keep us updated. I'm so extremely tempted to grab a eVGA 780i SLI mobo with Q6700 OEM (bundled together) for $500 and sell the quad. Someone really has to stop me, or maybe someone wants a Q6700? :P I know I could let it go for cheap, like in $400 range.
Thanks, that's what I've been reading now over at the eVGA boards as well. Looks like I'll have to buy a floppy drive to install sata/raid.

But, that's why I mentioned their tech support not being all that great. I told them the problem very in-depth and their response was to try one stick of ram, swap it, etc which I had already done that. They then asked me what videocard and mouse I was using, which both are supported, so then they told me to RMA it, which I did (cross shipping with clubit though so hopefully the wait won't be too long). After the fact it looks like I found what was most likely the problem by information found here and on the eVGA forums. I expect tech support to be at least as helpful, but they weren't. That's after talking to two different agents, the first guy didn't even offer any suggestions.

btw that's a nice bundle, I wish I had the money at the moment to make an offer for the 6700
