I can't give up, that wasn't me talking back there :P

The microphone is now picking up sounds. The only thing is, is that it is very unsensitive. When i rub the mic, i get a static recording, if i talk directly onto it with my mouth right up next to it, it will record it but only quietly.

Well that's a start! Double check the recording levels in every control panel you can find for the thing. Also make sure that the plug is definately plugged in all the way into the computer...

Have you found another computer where that mic works perfect? If so, then double check both settings and make your computer's settings look just like the computer's that worked... LOL, pretty brain dead advice, but hey, I'm runnin' out of ideas for ya :(

Get a cheapo sound card like a Sound Blaster Live.

If it doesn't work, return it... :)
