Also, keep in mind that stores like Fry's Electronics buy in bulk, and buy as many of a product as its first released as they can....which is why I always recommend Newegg or ZZF......you're more likely to get the latest version of a product from the Egg.
When did you email GB, and what exactly did you ask them? Give me something to work with and I'll see what I can do to help.

So there may be an e-mail waiting for you on the Gigabyte website. How long ago did you e-mail them?
Yes I figured that out about the second time I asked them for help. They usually do answer, but not with anything meaningful. I've been 2 weeks going back and forth with them just trying to get an answer to "where is the motherboard temp sensor located". They just don't comprehend english. That is the biggest problem.

I did buy from Newegg and I got a revision C2 chipset in august.

The communication has been into their online service and the exact Vista question has been deleted by now. I explained that at the time I had one SataII drive on the Jmicron controller and that I tried to load Vista and it got about 30 seconds in and told me i was missing a driver and i could load it on the CD or Flash or FLoppy, but it didnt say what driver. So I was stopped. The next time I tried, I had 2 drives in Raid zero on the Jmicron controller and it did the same thing. Both times I was using the release code and both time I had run their hardware validation the day before and was told that the hardware was Vista Premium Ready. There was no answer from the online service people to 2 attempts to get an answer on this.

The S3 resume for sleep stopped working at the F7 bios and that is a known issue that the DS3 community thought would be fixed.

The IDE issue is also related to the Jmicron controller. It won't recognize more than one IDE device at a time. So when I hook up a floppy, my CD/DVD no longer works.

The memory problems are abundant, but the one that really affects me is that the board wont cold boot when I have the memory set to a 1:1 ratio. It just resets to the default bios and restarts.

System fan control worked in one bios and not the next and then started working again in F7 and not in F8.

When I saw the new announcement of the DS3P (ver 2) this morning, I figure that the chances of getting any of this fixed are between slim and none. So if you do have someone at GB who would listen, I would be appreciative.

Gonna PM you with another part.

Now I am questioning if this is a good board with typical BIOS and no overclocking (well maybe a few notches up) with a E6400....

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I imagine it is. I went back 2 levels to the F6 bios today just to see how that goes. I think if that goes ok, I'll just stay there. I don't need to overclock any higher and I'd rather just have it stable.

My only other concern is why I couldn't load vista and I have been assured by GB that they can't recreate that problem using their copy of Vista Ultimate version and that nobody else has ever reported it as an issue. So I guess it won't be a concern for anyone else.

What is your exact problem when you say it won't load Vista. I've never heard of anyone complain of this problem before either.

LOL........ I am pretty convinced that GB was correct when they told me it was user error.

The error that the user made was to use the GB Sata II controller for his Windows volume. Most people would have just plugged it into the ICH8 sata emulation controller, but I wanted real sata speed and features. I guess vista didn't like that. So 30 seconds into the install it puked and told me it needed a driver. It didn't bother to say what driver it needed, although it gave me about 13 options of how to load it. That same error happened on the last beta code and on the RC. So i threw it in the trash.

Yipee.....skipee.........

I got my RMA replacement yesterday and it was a new Rev2 DS3 with F7 bios. They have made many improvements to this board and eliminated a lot of the problems. Along with that they increased my stable OC up to 4.48ghz. I think I can handle that.
