As a site, our focus is on helping out newer users on their path to becoming full fledged enthusiasts. A stepping stone, if you will, at which point they'll either move on or stick around and help the constant flow of new members. With that being the case, our content usually doesn't focus very heavily on overclocking, though we'll include it where applicable. Instead, we like to look at the overall package, feature-set, etc.

Individually however, many of us are into overclocking, myself included. You certainly won't find yourself alone on this forum in that area.

Oh, and welcome!

I dunno if you overclocked back then, but it makes me think of Celerons and peltier cooling. It's when Peltier used to be "safe", you could get twice the speed of your Celeron haha. They also had the same amount of cache than Pentium, only difference was the bus speed.

holy cow man! nice oc on that barton!
im into overclocking myself. havent gotten a C2D system yet, but i may when i get back from iraq. im partial to opteron 165's the first one i bought was a CCBWE 0551 WPMW stepping. typical CCBWE results, 2.6ghz @ 1.45v. i guess you could say it was one of the better ones cause it didnt need 1.5v+ to get to that 2.6ghz. might one day borrow a promie for it since the BW can take some cold. i recently purchased a new Opty 165 since the price is right and i still have a capable system. this time i managed to get an Opteron 165 CCBBE 0610 DPMW. havent been able to play with it since its home and im not, but ive already purchased a watercooling kit for it at petras tech shop. the kit consists of a storm rev2 cpu block, swiftech MCP655 pump, Swiftech MCR220-QP Dual 120mm Radiator, 2x 120mm medium speed yate loon fans, 7/16th ID masterkleer tubing and all the other little tidbit accessories. im gonna take the IHS off my opty and hopefully take her to 3+ghz

You are lucky man,the CCBBE is a very good stepping, now you just have to overclock it...lol...

And i had a 165 for a few weeks, dont remember the stepping but it was a really bad overclocker,i was fsb walling around 265 on my DFI LP.
On the other hand i had a 146 that did 3,46ghz w 1,55vcore. Loved that opty.

But if you are goona do some benching you really need too go C2D,they are beasts. But for the E6300 and E6400 you also need some fast memory, because of the low multiplier x7-x8. They need a mobo who can pull off some high fsb,500fsb+ if you are serious ;)

Torture youre 165 and see, they usally overclocks really good.

Ha it's neat to find someone like you. I'm not a crazy overclocker but i've been doing it for quite "a long time".
What's the most crazy thing you've done? Not necessarily your biggest overclock but what you would qualify as plain crazy?
I think the craziest thing i've done was lapping a Pentium 3 core, those that didn't have anything on top. I was such a ****** back then

...hm... the most crazy thing in overclocking....
...lol...yeah,it must be last winter, january 06. I live in Norway,we got some pretty cold winters here from november to march its usally sub zero temps.
Anyway, every winter im doing this overclocking outside in the cold,it sounds crazy, but it works when its really cold. We had setup the rig on a cardbox outside,it was -14-15`c. The pc was just goona run cold a few minutes,so i went inside for my needs (toilet) then the phone rang, and i forgot about my pc outside.......until a half an hour later,i was still on the phone with my friend,i saw it was snowing pretty heavy outside.........crap....lol...

You can imagine i was running fast outside to check upon my rig. It was snow all over, but for some reason it was still running ......

We took it down and did it again some other day, when it was not snowing...lol...

Sub Zero Lives........
