| The BIOS is already on the mobo, no need to worry about that. First install the OS and then the mobo/networking drivers then the graphics, etc. It's really pretty simple. ![]() |

| Colonel Calamity | Look at the board you bought. There is always a "Rev" or "Ver" or sometimes just v3.1 somewhere on the board. Also look at the name, is it just "K7S5A"? or "K7S5A Pro"? or "K7S5A+"? or K7S5A2? If so the drivers are slightly different for each of these and each board is slightly different. As for the drivers themselves, download them to a thumb drive or burn it to a CD on another (or old) computer. These are the regular K7S5A (not Pro or + or 2) drivers: Motherboard v3.1B Drivers Motherboard v3.1 Drivers (note lack of "B") Motherboard v1.1 Drivers If it is Pro or + or 2, check this page. On the left under Product Search, choose motherboard, then socket 462, the model of yours, then your version number from the board itself. On the next page choose drivers to the lower right. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| Colonel Calamity | ok then just look at your board itself and usually below the PCI slots has a Revision or Version number (1.1, 3.1 or 3.1B) and just follow the link I posted above. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| Hi hello I just wanted to update you on my computer re-fit I completed it today and it won't turn on and I have no idea why I have checked all the connections to all the components within the case i.e. dvd drive etc and I have had a friend who is a sparky and he has no ideas either, he tried for a ages to try and figure out what was wrong. So can anyone help me please. Also before anyone asks yes I did plug into the mains power supply lol. ![]() CPU:AMD Athlon 1.8GHz Board:KM266-8233 Memory:1GB Video Card:Nvidia Geforce 7600 GS AGP8X (256mb on board memory) HDD:Samsung SV8004H Case:Advent Cooling:Master Cooling Fans Operating System:Windows XP Professional service pack2 Last edited by Pandora; January 5th, 2008 at 10:39. |

| Modder-ator | Does the computer do anything at all? Do any fans spin up? Lights come on? Any beep codes? If it just doesn't respond at all (absolutely nothing) when you hit the power button, double check the connection on the power button its self and the connection to the front I/O pin-outs on the motherboard and make sure the power button connectors are seated correctly on the right pins. If you suspect the power button might be bad (which I've had happen before) you can pull the power button header off and short the two pins on the motherboard for the power button with a paperclip or something. Also make sure the rocker switch on the back of the PSU is flipped to the on position (side with the single line). |

| No it does not do anything at all to answer your question but I will have a look though. ![]() CPU:AMD Athlon 1.8GHz Board:KM266-8233 Memory:1GB Video Card:Nvidia Geforce 7600 GS AGP8X (256mb on board memory) HDD:Samsung SV8004H Case:Advent Cooling:Master Cooling Fans Operating System:Windows XP Professional service pack2 |

Now if all of that produces no results the next logical step would be to look closely at the main motherboard power connector, the large 24 pin connector. There will be a Green wire in the bundle and there should only be a single Green wire. Carefully using a paper clip or small jumper wire slide it down into the connector to make contact with the socket down there. Jumper (Short) the Green wire to any Black wire on the connector. What we are doing with that last step is trying to force a PSU On. Just see if things begin spinning and starting. Do not leave things jumpered. We just want to see if the PSU starts. Additionally look at your motherboard manual. Most of today's motherboards have a power LED on the board. That LED should be illuminated anytime the rear PSU switch is On and power is applied to the system. Do you have such a LED and is it on? Ron | |
