Default Re: Conflict with ASUS A8R-MVP review

Just a quick update ...

I bought this motherboard and it has performed perfectly. It's been very stable and reliable. The only problem I had is that the Installation CD from ASUS was a blank, unformatted CD. I downloaded all the drivers from the ASUS site and had no trouble installing them.

I think this is an excellent, cost-effective motherboard and recommend it.

Wow, great stuff. Just more proof that every person can have very different experiences with a particular product. Just glad to hear you had a positive one!

And that is very odd about the blank CD, I've never heard of such a thing before!

with anything related to mass production, there will always be one out of a million that will break or cease to function properly within a very short period even if all testing at the factory turns out perfectly. I got a bum E6400 that had a concave IHS. I don't blame anyone as this is the luck of the draw. I will not place a crazy low scoring review on newegg or elsewhere saying that all Intel products are crap.
Many times it is due to user error... a simple static charge from improper grounding can cause delayed symptoms on any computer related hardware.

This is a perfect example of basing your decision on trusted reviews and only trust the reviews at those type of sites if you see a large number of reviews that all say the same thing across many sites. Any less than 20-30 of these types of reviews are not worth paying any attention to.

Thanks HL and Corsair!
