| You should be able to just unzip the bios to the flash drive. If there's anything special you might have to do there'll probably be a text file in the file you've unzipped with some extra instructions, but I'm guessing you'll just need to unzip the files onto the flash drive. Although I still prefer using floppy's to flash my bios.... (I did flash my abit's bios from windows today without crashing the computer though! woot!). e6300@3.33ghz|Asus P5k-e WiFi| 4gb OCZ ReaperX|2x 3870's|1.3tb storage space|MSI tv tuner. | ||||||||||||||

| with my board, i just unzipped it on my laptop, put it on my flash drive, and booted up my desktop and selected Q Flash. It detected the update and did it with no issues. ![]() ![]() Cosmos 1000 Asus P5Q Deluxe Q9450 TRUE 120 Extreme Black Edition W/ Yate Loon Fans 4GB G.Skills PC8500 2x2gb Seagate HD x 3 (2 7200.10 (320gb, 500gb), 1 7200.11 (1TB) Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio 2x AMD Made by Visiontek HD4870 in Crossfire Silverstone ST85F 850W Modular PSU Acer P241W Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | ||||||||||||||

| Would it be wise (risky) and time saving just to pop the Q9450 in and boot it up with the usb in the comp and select q flash. Or would the board not boot up as the cpu is not supported with the current bios on the board? ![]() Project Luxray: 1st August... | ||||||||||||||

It sounds simple enough... but is anything else besides the bios file required on the thumb drive? I tried to upgrade through the onboard Gigabyte Bios update utility (found within bios), and it asked for the file on the A: drive. I don't have a floppy drive installed yet, and couldn't update it. Now I have a floppy drive and will install tonight... but still would be nice if it could be done via thumb drive as well. . | |||||||||||||||

| sometimes yes, sometimes no.... I would check to see what version it mentions in the BIOS itself and update it if there is one available on their website... ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. | ||||||||||||||
