| I'm Evil | The next couple weeks are going to be hectic, Paul is recovering from major knee surgery, so I'm kinda jumping through hoops trying to lighten his load and set things up. I've got the following motherboards I'm benchmarkling as I write this: ECS G33 mATX ECS P35 Gigabyte P35C-DS3R (supports both DDR2 and DDR3) eVGA 650i Ultra ASUS P5N-E SLI Deluxe Biostar P35D3 (A surprisingly nice board) INTEL QX9650 ASUS P5E3 Premium 4GB DDR3-1600 Sapphire HD 3870X2 Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C) 5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5 BFG ES 800W PSU |

| The P35 is newer than the P965 and more "future-proof". Both are great chipsets. Also, depending on the motherboard, the P35 chipset can support DDR3 memory and a 1333FSB as well as the new 45nm CPU from Intel. The only reason you would want to get the 680i chipset is for SLI and/or RAID capabilities, as I have heard that the 680i chipset makes it easy to setup a RAID. | I'm Evil | Some P965 boards support 1333FSB as well, as do some 680i boards. as a general rule, INTEL chipsets are top quality, always being super stable, good overclockers, and feature rich. As to the 680i, most support 1333FSB as well, and are excellent overclockers.....the main issue being small quirks like memory voltages and such. | Also, as a "cheap" alternative, the ASUS P5N-E SLI board got somewhat good reviews and is on the 650i chipset, one under the 680i. | I'm Evil | I won't recommend it, we've been through three of them, two were DOA, the third died 10 seconds after booting. INTEL QX9650 ASUS P5E3 Premium 4GB DDR3-1600 Sapphire HD 3870X2 Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C) 5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5 BFG ES 800W PSU |

![]() (Alright, second try at recommending something helpful ) How about this for a budget alternative: EVGA 650i Ultra (it's usually cheaper at resellers.)Good Luck!! On a side note, I found a really cool mobo: EVGA 680i Black Pearl Edition. Just though it was pretty cool. | The good old Gigabyte 965P-DS3 is one of the best bang for the buck. It only has a single PCIE slot but then again we concluded here that crossfire/sli is in most cases a waste of money. It has full uspport for the new generation of Core2 and Quad core. | Lee, that Gigabyte that you linked that has DDR2 and DDR3 slots looks good. Get some DDR2 now, and grab some DDR3 when it drops down in price.
