Also, would you say that the increased RAM bandwidth is making the looser timings inconsequential?
I'm not going to say so definitively just yet. There's still quite a bit of settings adjustments, reboots, testings and such to do. But from what I'm seeing on other sites, a 17m39s 32m Pi score is pretty decent. That was with the relaxed memory timings and the memory at 875Mhz.

I'm going to try a 1:1 setting and see what I come up with.

Now I can say so. Lowering the Ram overclock towards a 1:1 ratio is increasing my 4m Pi times. I took it down to a 8:18 ratio and my time for a 4m run increased by 4 seconds and my time to 1m went from 16s to 17s.

Hmmm, interesting. Well the numbers win. I guess if you can increase bandwidth enough, you can muscle your way through looser timings and asynchronous overclock inefficiencies!

This ram is just amazing I tell you. I love it. Only bad thing though, if this is a bad thing LOL!, when I tried to downclock it below 720Mhz, the system hard locked. The Bios wouldn't even do it's recovery thing like it's supposed to do. I had to jumper CMOS to get it back. I tried lowering the voltage a tad and tightening the timings, loosening the timings all to no avail. 8 CMOS clearings later, I put it right back up to 850Mhz @ 5-6-6-17, 2.1v and have left it there.

Heh. Dang it. I just realized my ram isn't in my sig. Crap.

Yeah, I was just about to ask you what kind of RAM you have, haha! I'll just wait for the sig update.

I've had that happen to me a few times with a few different brands of RAM. If I underclock it too much *poof* no more POST. It's as if the RAM is saying, "WHY???? C'mon!!"

It doesn't happen all the time though. So, I don't know. Maybe it's just chance depending on your RAM and BIOS.

I'll go ahead and show you the Ram. I suck at PSP for pics...been a loooong time since I've used it. So the sig takes more time than the patience vs time ratio I have tonight. My pain factor is about a 8 on a scale of 1 to 10 today.

Ah, nice sticks. I was considering this, or the DDR2 800 or 1000 from the Titanium series. Sounds like it's been working well for you aside from getting pissed off when you tried to "demote" it, haha!

Thats one of the reasons when we review memory we also look at flexibility, some people will lower the divider on their memory to get more out of their processor, and when you do that you do want to tighten up the timings....and not every kit cooperates

I've noticed that OCZ RAM generally handles a wide range of clock speeds but doesn't like its timings messed with too much. I haven't used any DDR2 yet though, so maybe that isn't the case anymore.
