Yeah it has. At least my abit board turns on every time, lol! Won't boot into windows at the moment, but I'm still trying to figure out what's going on with that. (giving me disk read errors and no system disk present errors after going through the first part of the windows install, with and without the sata drivers. Didnt give me this much trouble the first time.... and I just want to play with my new graphics card, dangit!)

Yeah, a radeon 3870, the one on sale at BB for 130 bucks. Gonna pick up a 2nd one (an asus probably) from dell using the gift cards I have in a bit too, so I can crossfire those.

Just have to get windows installed to try it out, first, lol.

Time to try formatting again....

What the hell is going on with this build? You want a known working P5K-E/3870 combo? This is 6-pages long and you're....bumping the dog man. I'm lost in what has been tried and not tried. Been following, but can't follow the logic of what's been tried.

The Asus turns on everytime...but what's happening here? Status? Refresh us all. I'll just about give this thing away in trade to make a point. I mean it's all open box/refurb crap and no issues..and full of goodness. This is 6 pages of issue? And now it's an Abit board that won't boot!? Really....what the hell are you doing? The I/O shield is being blamed!? Man...slow down, look at what you're doing. You can run without an I/O shield.

Advice: look at what you're doing, stop blaming the hardware and swapping crap out. You're doing something wrong. Where's Simple's avatar when you need it?

Asus won't post all the time.
Abit board works all the time.

Asus board is being RMA'ed.

It's that simple. :P

Well, nevermind about the abit board. That boots fine. Some weird xp problem.

And it was a wierd problem with the asus. Sure, it would turn on, but it wouldn't post normally. Just seemed like a flaky board.

Sorry for having such a long thread. Didnt mean to upset you with my 6 pages of seemingly nothing.

Ugh. I guess what I'm doing is just going back to troubleshooting it by myself.

Also, the abit board is going fine now. Just had to format the drive with gparted and install, and it's going good.

Well if you'd describe what's going on, perhaps others can better guide. Perhaps?

Sorry to bring the "Free Clinic" over here, but there's really no data to help on what's going. Something works kinda, something works on default, something, something.

Having a format has nothing to do with hardware. I'm at a loss, and can help you get the next "non-working" asus board working. Just feels like it's one thing after another...like brain surgery with a hammer.

Just where I'm from, two posts, fixed. You all should like that and not "uck" it. I'll move along I guess. Have fun. Since I've joined you've been trying to boot, where's the update!?. Just be leary about saying Asus is bad from this...send it to me, I'll get it working, done. No page 7.

You know your posts are just as cryptic as buran's posts? :P

Well, I didn't say asus was bad. I quite like the board, except for the whole "lets not post on a regular basis".

Also,

, I mean, comon. I've done quite alot before I rma'd that board. A hell of a lot. So you know what? Screw it. I like coming to this website because the people are friendly, and they lend a hand, not because they are just better fixing computer problems than me. I don't come looking for a free clinic. I don't expect one. I just like the community.

But this whole deal just leaves a sour taste in my mouth now. Seriously, you want me to send you a flaky board so you can fix it? Why don't you just call me stupid while you're at it. I've got enough crap to deal with in my life right now to have to deal with crap like this here. I just can't handle it.

So don't worry there probably won't be a page 7, I just need a break from this too.
