| Memtest86 is older, 86+ should be more up to date. Hmmm. I think memtest just hates you. WITH A PASSION! http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=124239 Perhaps that thread could help? | Modder-ator | jph, I don't think you have to worry so much about it not showing the info in that line. Yeah it's nice to have that there to look at, but I think the program will still run and test fine regardless of if a chipset is "supported" or not. Are you having any other serious problems with it besides that? You could also check out just plain MemTest which is a small application that does the same thing but is run within windows. I've used it a bit and it seems to work pretty well. I usually let it go to 200% and that seems to catch most everything. |

The memtest86+ that I run seems to work fine. I just wanted to be able to see those two lines of data/ information for reference purposes. It is no big thing, I'm just surprised with all the people using it that someone hasn't updated it. **Edit... the first thing that brought it to may attention was when I tried to choose the option to customize the test and it popped up with chipset not reported. | I'm Diggin it! | JPH, do you have the means to get a backup program like Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost? I know Acronis True Image is a $29 download from NewEgg. This way, you could image your drive and if you do bork your Windows install while over clocking, all you have to do is reimage your drive. No fuss, no muss. All your updates are already done, you don't have to activate again and you can have your system up and running in less than 20 minutes. Less than 15 for mine. Memtest86, when written to a CD as an image, works. Even if it doesn't detect your chipset properly, you still get the tests run from what I've seen. I used it last week to determine my memory slot was bad on my 590 mobo. | I just sent Acronis an email and asked if I could image my Raid zero windows volume to DVD +R dual layer. Their specs dont show that they support that, but we will see. EDIT.... just downloaded their user manual and I see the dual layer DVD support in there. The more I think about this, I guess it shouldn't matter at all if it is a Raid zero volume? | Well I just had a very nice chat with the online support person at Acronis. I was very impressed with their helpfulness. I was so impressed I am pasting in the record of the chat below for anyone who is interested. And I'm downloading the free trial of their product as we speak. Thank you for contacting Acronis! The chat operator will be with you approximately in 0 minute(s) and 27 seconds. Thank you for waiting. You are now chatting with 'Andrew'Andrew: Hello! Thank you for contacting Acronis Sales Team! My name is Andrew, how can I assist you? Jeff: Hello......The trueimage 10 home that is available by download at newegg....is that the full version? Andrew: Well, it should be if they sell it. Jeff: ok.....I would be buying it primarily to image a raid zero windows volume for stand alone restores. I will be creating the images on DVD +R DL disks. Is any of that a problem? Andrew: We do not expect any difficulties with it. Jeff: ok....one more question please Jeff: the bootable iso for the recovery.....can I create that on a DVD also, instead of a CD? Andrew: Sure, you will simply need to insert DVD instead of CD into your DVD-ROM Jeff: great.....oh....one more thing... Jeff: in the user manual they refer to a full version and a safe version, the safe version supports fewer devices, how can I be completely sure which version newegg sells? they have it on their website as trueimage home 10 only. Andrew: That information describes standalone version of the software which can be created with the help of installed software. Andrew: You will be able to create both full and safe versions. Jeff: oh...then that may be a problem Andrew: Acronis Bootable Rescue Media can contain both of them as well. Jeff: the stand alone is what you restore images with right? Jeff: ohhhh Jeff: i just don't want to be in a situation where I can't do a stand alone boot and recover the image of my raid volume Jeff: that is my only concern Andrew: Well, we can recommend you to download trial version of the software, create Acronis Bootable Rescue Media, boot your PC from it to see whether it works fine and recognizes your hard drives. Andrew: Trial version of the software is available at: http://www.acronis.com/download/ Jeff: are there no limitatoins to the funcitonality of the trial version? Andrew: The functional limitation of Acronis True Image 10.0 Home trial version is that you can only restore and validate an image when you run the program from the bootable media. Windows version is functional for 15 days only and it does not have any more limitations. Jeff: thank you Andrew, you have been very helpful....have a nice day. Andrew: Thank you for visiting. Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have further questions. Commodore 64 overclocked into outerspace ![]() |
